Spend more or make do?

My 3.0 si coupe had advisories for doughnut bushes and ball joints. I’ve got a pair of front trailing arms tie rods ends and drop links along with a set of eibach springs ready for my friendly mechanic to fit.
Existing shocks don’t seem to be leaking.
If I’m going to expense of getting above fitted, should I go that bit extra and order a set of shocks?
If so, which ones?

If you can afford it, I would suggest making the purchase. You will then get even wear across all components. If your coil begins to leak in the future it will apply undue stress on your lovely new eibach springs and could potentially break them.

I think most, including myself, that have changed the shocks with any decent mileage on the car will tell you it was well worth it.

I think you'll find the shocks will have had it. I checked the rears on mine (2006 50k miles) by jacking up and releasing the bottom bolt, only takes a few mins. Both shocks dry as a bone but zero damping! I'm putting on some bilstein b4's.

+1 & moreover shocks are a highly important safety feature, controlling braking.

In the wet, knackered shocks are as good as cheap ditch finder tyres in taking you to the afterlife.... the cost of changing all at the same time is really worth it, just remember to also do the rear top mounts
