If you change to non run flats do you have to set the car up differently? Or is it just a straight swap?

Straight swap, biggest issue is some tyre garages will refuse to do it

Why would they refuse? Ive only had my Z4 for a month but the tyres are doing my head it! My Dads a car mechanic so shouldnt be a problem :P

Never having driven a car with RFTs before, I test drove my soon to be Z4. It was awful and I commented to the owner, a trader that the car must have been bent in order to be so awful, I daren't remove a hand from the steering wheel. HPI check and inspection was all clear and if it wasn't for my mate who came with me....a dyed in the wool petrol head who checked out the tyres and pointed out they were RFTs and all would be well when I ditched them, I would never have bought it.

Ditching the RFTs was the first 'mod' I did - night and day! :driving:

4 years........Why you no riiiiisenn? You are welcome here more often, do we smell?

So it does make a massive difference then? I hope so

They will say the wheels are not suitable which is bollocks. If they say that just find another tyre shop.

Just check with your insurance company though first, make sure they are happy about fitting non run flats.

Two months after buying the Z the RFT's were history. And behold there is a great car in the background waiting to be released. Handling ,cornering, noise, road stick-ability,you name it .Its all there. I chose Vred Ultrac vorti's but i am sure Michelin,Goodyear, and several others will all achieve the right result. So if your dithering Don't get the car you al-way's wanted.Change. Yes there's still the issue of "what if I get a puncture" I went for the conti system and also a tyre repair kit. If all else fails its Green Flag or the RAC.

Went from Bridgestone run flats (crashy, harsh, tram lining, rattling, hideous) to Goodyear F1 non run flats and the difference is amazing! Like you said, it's like a new car!

Well done, good move, nice saving :)

After driving around Europe with run flats on I ended up with a bad back. I've certainly never regretted the change. They are fine on the 5 series but a complete nightmare on the zed.
