Speedometer change.

I imported a Zed from Japan a coupla years ago, the speedometer etc is in kilometeres, is it possible to change it to a miles UK speedometer using a second hand one from a breakers?
I know that the mileage etc is recorded elseware on the Zed and if the donor speedometer has different data then the red tamper dot will illuminate.
Can the data be changed in the replacement speedometer to match the actual data of the car therefore not triggering the tamper alert using diagnostic software like Carly for example?

You can code mileage on your Japanese odometer etc with ncsexpert.
The only thing which Coding wouldn't be able to do, is of course changing the faceplate.. So you could take apart your current speedo and source a different faceplate to put in.

Or of course like you said, replace the whole unit, I'm sure it can be coded to your actual mileage (the other location this is stored is the light control module.) Not sure how to go about that though, without activating the tamper dot..

My suggestion would be to get hold of a dial replacement kit that converts the face from KMPH to MPH, and use coding to swap the digital display units from KIlometers to miles

While coding can be done to match a replacement set of dials, it will not be possible to align them to your vin unless the mileage in the replacement is 0 - and this would lead to the red tamper dot being lit

Sounds like a plan but need to source replacement dials, plenty for older Beemers but nothing found for the Zed yet.

You may be able to pick up a second hand speedo off eBay for about £40 which you could just swap the dial into yours and then reprogram it - alternatively there are companies like Lockwood that do replacement dial sets
