Anyone know who can fix these at a reasonable price-been quoted £149 + vat + postage!!!!!
The LCD part of the display has become corrupted-had to buy a replacement to get through MOT- but the mileage is in ircorrect so would like to get original repaired

That's interesting. I would have thought the mileage would be read from the body computer, not the guts of the screen itself?

Mileage is stored in the cluster and the LCM. If either don’t match the tamper dot comes on.

Where exactly is that listed in the MOT manual? The only item I can think of would be mileage but I can’t even see that as a check.

On the Z3 there is a coding plug that stores the mileage details, if replacing those then the plug has to be changed over, just looked at the oem parts for the Z4 and unlike the Z3 it dosn't show a coding plug so looks like its stored in another module, but an expert will be along to put us right, pretty sure there are past posts on here regarding replacement clusters. Probably a coding job for software to code the cluster to the car.

The mileage is stored in the cluster. When I bought the replacement it had a mileage 20K less than the damaged one. At some point I want to repair the original as DVLA WILL FLAG THAT THEREis a descrepancy in the mileage history.
I can provide the old cluster to verify, but as the op has pointed out, the replacement has assumed a dot in the display to confirm it has not been assigned to the chassis numbe.

Wouldn’t it be easier to code the correct mileage to the cluster you’ve fitted instead of repairing the old one? :?

Thanks for the suggestion.
I would if I knew how to or someone who could. Is anyone able to do that in S Wales or Bristol area?

If you make a trip to hook in Hampshire bowser has a garage there I'm sure a call to him would give you your options and costs

As above, someone should be able to code the replacement cluster. I had to change my LCM due to a failure & the secondhand replacment put the tamper light on. Luckily there's a very good BMW indy near me that specialises in coding & he sorted it for a reasonable price. He quoted me up front & it took him a while longer than he'd expected so I had to leave it with him overnight. Same price though .

Just Google Mileage correction for your local area and see what’s available
