Which ones increase your insurance premium? In the UK, it is anything, no exception.

Ouch Inkey. Just to clarify...

Coming from essex over the bridge, you got nabbed just on the other side as you leave the toll?????? I didn't know there was any cameras there. At all?

Thats exactly where I got nabbed. Cameras been there since last autumn but I think only switched on recently. Take it easy on the drag towards Kent after throwing your £2 into the basket.

Roughtly what percentage hike am I looking at for my first 3 points do you think?

That all depends on the company you are insured with. The annoying thing is that if you have more than 1 car, it hammers each one with up to 30% what I have seen of average figures.

I reckon different factors will come into it, the underwriter, the insurance company, actual penalty code, age, I guess??

All of them.... you just have a little grace period, if you get one every two years you get no increase, any more than that and it might go up 20% or so.... and dangerous driving, stunting , that type will get you bumped 100%

It pays to behave (and have a really good radar detector.)

Only ever got one ticket in a Zed.... in an off-ramp because I didn't slam on the brakes to drop 40kmh while still on the 100kmh highway :x

That does not seem too bad, over here you get hammered - on every car you are insured on. :x

I wouldn't think it would be too much, I'd go for no more than 10 percent but like it's been said it's all down to your insurance company. They really like to hammer drivers who get caught speeding in 20 and 30mph zones. They are regarded as the worst type of speeding offence.

Unless I got this wrong, any vehicle. If I bought myself a Vespa the insurance would take into account any and all points regardless of vehicle type.

Interesting. I wish there was punishment for the dicks that drive inconsiderately and more education on inconsiderate / dangerous moves. E.g. People who pull out across hatched lines on slip roads joining a motorway. That is irritating and not just that, dangerous. Seems to be BMW drivers who I've noticed do that recently though have witnessed it being done by drivers of other cars too. It's ridiculous people do it, to save about half a second yet it is not a considerate way of driving. What else, people not indicating (when there are cars behind you) like on a busy motorway. I'm supposed to not let things like that bother me, I know, how can you get peeved about things other people do? Shouldn't, right.

It is on all the cars you insure.... and in BC although they have no photo radar they do impound your car if caught doing more than 30Kmh over.... no argument s allowed and you have to pay ridiculous storage charges to get it back PLUS the speeding fine , eve if they are wrong and it is dismissed. They have a trap in front of the ferry terminal and nab huge RV's regularly as the road goes from a 4 lane(each way) divided 100kmh highway to a 4 lane 50kmh highway as you round a bend.... ruins a lot of vacations for people.

Don't speed in Brit Columbia, the cops are assh*les , I'd rather have the cameras I think.....

I'm not sure that would be 100% of the time Inkey cos some insurers might interpret two wheels and four wheels differently. Get a trike :)

Here's a section of road in my town, with a 30MPH limit. Note the garage, two concealed exits, parked cars, narrow road, average visibility, young people's centre and then just past that, there's a very busy entrance to a secondary school.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.97523,-3.236428,3a,75y,266.64h,83.94t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s5RfCw_-83MkQIHAnO0jjfg!2e0

The sort of place that maybe, just maybe, there should be police officers making sure that motorists stick to the law. Not a chance. Never seen one in eight years. Let's move on 500 yards:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.97136,-3.246941,3a,75y,239.74h,77.45t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sn29uvRXP6ermBxN1mOReTw!2e0

That's better. Twice as wide, no school, fewer junctions, better visibility, last few yards of the same 30MPH limit. A MUCH better place to put a mobile unit, and indeed they do.

Nobody, and I repeat nobody, will ever convince me that speed cameras are about safety when they are positioned solely with the intention of catching as many people as possible.

Maybe I just need to wrap my Golf to evade capture.

That's interesting Budfox. Do they never try and catch people by the busier section?

Boll*cks. Two days after receiving my 3 point adorned license I might have just added another 3. Took the breadvan out for a quick run round and 5 minutes after leaving the house, went through lights that were on the very very last remnants of being amber. Didnt see red as I went through but Im guessing that doesnt matter if they were red when I passed the lights beyond my view.

Idiot :headbang:

You might be OK ... They often aren't loaded and I think they are quite kind on tolerances. I've seen loads of people amber gambling and not getting flashed by them. Fingers crossed :-(
