Speeding

I thought the 50 mph lead up to the toll booths have been in effect for a while via signage (although I must admit I always thought it was a 60mph limit). The cameras went up last year and from what I've read, got switched on this year.

My own stupid fault really.

Unless my eyes deceive me yes - certainly on the north bound section.

I got my first fpn ever last year... Took a course and for the next month drove carefully!!

Got caught on the way down to Goodwood a few years back in the 3.0. Camera in a van looking down at me from a bridge, again on a motorway. Offered a course at the time and took it (and thats a day of my life I wont get back!).

Didn't get sent the option this time around and IIRC it's a one shot thing, then points after that on re-offending.
 
Meh it happens doesn't really mean much now a days most people have points and it doesn't really affect your insurance. Annoying but don't put yourself down about it :thumbsup:
 
Why oh why is the UK the only country in the world where a speeding fine affects your insurance.

If you've taken a NSAC in the last 3 years then you won't get offered the chance to take another one. After 3 years you will.

Ask for your course fee back as it was clearly faulty and didn't last the 3 years expected :lol:

Bad luck though, I would much prefer to see people ticketed for tailgating, excess speed for prevailing conditions etc. but that's another argument. Hope it doesn't affect your insurance too much.
 
Never mind, at least you've highlighted the 50mph speed limit on this stretch of road to all forum members so some good has come out of your misfortune. :wink:
 
Just over 2 weeks ago going on my usual M route to the Lakes, a car pulled along side me and pipped I looked around and it was plod waving his finger at me I looked at my speedo which showed 90 leptons I mouthed sorry and waved and slowed down, just to rub my nose in it he then sped off at a vast amount of speed.

I've been wondering if he logged my speed but the deadline has now passed.This is the second time in about 2 months that I've had a scare and have decided to be more pro active on this stretch of road!

Because it's run by a bunch of out of touch, money grabbing, one law for them, another for us, expenses fiddling :wkr: :wkr: :wkr:

That would mean effort, which we all know our lazy cash driven government authorities can't be bothered with.
 
Update: letter from Essex Police received today with details of my punishment.
3 points and £100 fine as suspected.

Be careful out there.

Sorry but we also have that issue in Canada. Three tickets within 5 yrs and you pay extra, points add up until you lose your license. Certain infractions can cause insurance rates to double .... and triple if you don't pay attention.

I had three , all in transition zones where the normal speed had been changed to a lower speed for road repairs or adjustments and not during work hours so nobody within miles :x Our construction zones apply 24 hrs a day but at least we don't get points from photo radar. They can't prove who was driving so the registered owner just gets a fine... In British Columbia they aren't allowed to use photo radar at all, public uproar shut it down in that province.
 
Ouch Inkey. Just to clarify...

Coming from essex over the bridge, you got nabbed just on the other side as you leave the toll?????? I didn't know there was any cameras there. At all?
