Speeding Ticket

Annoyingly, I've got a speeding ticket from last week. The copper was by himself (no police car in view), hidden in a bush, behind a bustop, catching cars on the A414 as it drops for 100 meters from a 40 into a 30. The road was totally clear and I kept moving at the same pace, so got done at 44mph in a 30 zone. Is it any defence to go in front of a judge and say "to be honest it's fairly tricky to just do 30mph in a GT3RS..."

I've since read that the fines now can be salary based up to 100% of your weekly earnings and up to 6 points. I'm hoping it'll just be £100 and 3 points, as I've got a clean licence right now. :headbang:

Lol,like it re the GT3. Rs comment

In all seriousness, if you do end up in front of a judge, no flippancy like that at all, will not go down well. It's humble pie time if it goes that far.

44 in a 30 does not sound like a fixed penalty I'm afraid, but best of luck.

He might realise its a bit of a porker, if you get my drift.
Just unfortunate my friend. Quite often I hear people say that we don't see many coppers around these day. Maybe it's because they are all dressed as trees!

Pity it was 44mph. Just out of the range for a speed awareness course. :(

Plead guilty by letter and fingers crossed. We all get done eventually.

It is only salary based if you let it go to court. Just a fixed penalty in this case so the £100

It sounds like you speak from experience!

I think we are all guilty of exceeding posted limits now and again - sometimes it just isn't your lucky day. :(

Looks like a "Band B" offence, though strangely no mention of a 30 mph zone.

Band A refers to the lowest level of speeding. For example, a driver could be driving at between 21mph and 30mph in a 20mph zone, 31mph to 40mph in a 30mph zone, or 71mph to 90mph on a 70mph road. In this case, the offender can expect three points on their licence, and a fine of around 50% of their weekly income.

band b is for more serious cases of speeding. if you drive at 31-40mph in a 20mph zone or at 56- 65mph in a 40mph zone, or up to 100mph in a 70mph zone, that will attract a band b fine. that means four to six penalty points or disqualification for between 7 and 28 days, plus a fine of 100% of weekly income.

Band C is for the most serious speeding offences. This means driving at 41mph or above in a 20mph zone, 51mph or above in a 30mph zone, or above 100mph in a 70mph zone. An offender in this category will receive six points on their licence or disqualification for between 7 and 56 days, as well as a fine of 150% of their weekly income.

All fair comments chaps! To be honest I've driven that road a 100 times and never once reaslied it drops to a 30 for that 100 meters (have always done 40ish through there), I've looked at the signage on google maps it's they're the really small signs that are pretty well hidden with bushes and trees.

He must have made his yearly quota and got almost every car through that last week :headbang:

I'm hoping it's just the £100 fine and 3 points. Let's wait and see.

Bit of a bugger, i got done going thro Bala ,north wales 3 weeks ago , 50,dropped to 40 then 30 mph ,i was still doing 50 apparently when they got me,waiting to hear from the courts now.
Really annoyed with miself as i always slown down going thro there, this occasion i didnt .
So gotta take it on thr chin now :(

34 in a 30 twice. Same stretch of road. (Mobile van)

1st time i did the speed aware course (£90) decided to get heaverly invoved and actualy had fun :D

2nd time was just 3 weeks later and took the 3 points and £ 100

This stretch i take daily, is dual carridgeway, i thought was a 40, but it's to do with the street lights, if three in a row it becomes a 30.
(Something like that)

There’s a great app for that called Radarbot, it warns you of all reported radar traps, it’s useful when you are driving somewhere you don’t know

Is it not mitigating circumstances as signage must be clear and visible and not certain they are allowed to hide in bushes either?

I did think they were meant to be visible, but apparently they don't have to be, and they are allowed to be very hidden if they want to be.

He was litterally sitting in a f*cking bush, he might as well have had full camoflage on. What makes it even more annoying is that two weeks prior to this, two scumbag black c*nts kicked in my neighbours door at 3am trying to get the keys to steal my car, holding a knife to her throat. Thick c*nts got the wrong house. The police turned up on time and were fairly good, but the CID have been shockingly bad, took them over 2 weeks to view the CCTV from my other neighbour and they need 6 weeks to try and match the DNA from a few bits of evidence. They haven't been back once to update on the case and see if my neighbour is ok.

Yet they can prioritise a man sitting in a bush all saturday afternoon catching speeding on a very clear A road. :headbang:

It doesn’t make any sense to me what so ever. There are 1309 deaths a year on the road, and even if we agree that speed is a factor in 25% as per statistics (doesn’t even split it per speed over the limit though), then we are talking about 325 per year.

I for one do not believe it to be useful to allocate that much time and man power to that, whilst the same manpower can do much more in society as a whole if they were to concentrate on violent crime and burglaries that have a much bigger impact on society. There were 1.8 million violent crimes last year but they allocate time to such a trivial item
