Having the pleasure of driving in both Scotland and Englandshire for several years, it is impossible not to notice the marked concentration of speed cameras, speed patrols etc in Scotland. You definitely have to drive around with one eye open - metaphorically speaking, whether you are in towns or in the middle of nowhere in this beautiful country.
The message is without doubt that if you drive above the speed limit in Scotland, you WILL be caught. I mention this as a warning to you southern types who visit and get seduced by the wide open spaces miles away from anywhere only to find a Q car on your tail! Of course none of us responsible zed owners speed in built up areas, do we?
Reminds me, years ago when USA had a 55 mph speed limit, I was driving in the middle of the Okefenokee swamp area in Florida in the middle of nowhere on miles of straight road with not a soul in sight. Went over a low bridge, gently cruising at around 65 mph, when the blue lights and siren came out of nowhere stopped me for speeding! We spent about 10 mins cracking Monty Python jokes and sketches, then he............let me off!
