Speedi-sleeve for crankshaft snout

Replacing front crankshaft seal as its the final oil leak. Was oxidised to the timing case and was a pain but came out eventually! The snout is heavily scored, which is understandable after 136,000 miles. I have been told the easiest fix is to use a Speedi-sleeve after removing any high spots along the score. Anybody else done this. Makes sense as its an engineering product designed specifically for this job and it comes in the exact size, 65mm x 20mm x 0.28mm. The seal installation tool will sit over the front edge just as it would normally.
