Spec question

I have put a deposit down on a 2010 (60 plate) 30i sdrive. Its advertised as an "Efficient Dynamics" model but i cant find any info about this engine ever being an "efficient dynamics" model...i thought that came in later on the 20i and 25i models? Oh and what is "efficient dynamics" anyway?

Most BMW's have some type of efficiency thing. There is no such thing as an e89 efficient dynamics model. They all are if you want to look at it that way with electric steering to save fuel, regenerative braking etc. The newer N20 equipped cars (18i/20i/28i) have start-stop added to the list of fuel saving tech.

mmmm, bit naughty to advertise it as such..especially since its a BMW main dealer auc..................

Not really. It has efficient dynamics technology, that's all they're pointing out. Only the mainstream cars have very specific ED models though (3/5 series etc)

It was advertised as an "Efficient Dynamics Model" as apposed to aE89 that diddnt have "efficient dynamics"...you would adverise a car as "4 wheels" but you would say "18s" because it differs from the standard..............

Well not wishing to antagonise you, as you're clearly annoyed about it, but I'd have to say that perhaps while there is no specific ED model, as it does have ED tech, they all do, they're not really lying.

Like Maniac has described BMW advertises every car as efficient dynamics because every car in the line up has some kind of ED tech. But some are specific ED models, but as its BMWs 'sport car' there is no specific ED model like the 320ED etc

I had a 320si WTCC which had a high revving hand made engine and returned 25-28mpg average and sat at 4000k revs at 70mph that also had the regenerative braking so had a ED sticker on it. When it clearly had no efficiency to it at all.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Im not annoyed..not one bit..just thought it a bit odd that in with the spec details it listed the ED as if it wasnt standard. :)

When I picked up my 35is back in the summer it had an 'efficient dynamics' window sticker in with handbook etc , which did amuse me
