Speakers pulsating

Ok I was driving down the motorway and swapped CDs. The bass stopped. The music was working but the bass just went silent, like I had turned it off. After closer inspection when I stopped the bass in the front 2 speakers footwell, was pulsating. Even when the music was off.. :/

I have upgraded speaker system direct from BMW.

It sounds now like the treble is turned right up and the bass turned right down , even though both is max.

Any ideas?

It's the amplifier location that sk93 is hinting at.
