... or if you just want the doors replaced, and you have Amazon Prime, then you could go for these Vibe midrange/tweeter package... https://www.amazon.co.uk/VIBE-OPTISOUNDBMW4X-E0-compatible-speaker-upgrade/dp/B08CND9G9V/ref=sr_1_1?crid=36MPPQYZ58UPJ&keywords=bmw+e89+speakers&qid=1650906247&sprefix=bmw+e89+speaker%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-1

Vibe also make a plug-n-play amplifier that plugs into your existing speaker output which saves any re-wiring... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08FBHY5QG/?coliid=I3I40L24313SJL&colid=20KB9L9YIKMQR&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

When i was looking at speaker options some months back i did stumble across the Vibe speakers and amp options for BMW.
When i hopped onto chat with their support person, they said that the mountings were either not supported for the E89 or they did not know.

That made me reconsider.
If someone has used these or will be considering trying them out, then do update us.

I decided to bite the bullet and ordered the B&O speakers, out of interest would these speakers handle the vibe amp if I wanted a bit more oomph
I genuinely couldn't say one way or the other as I've not yet got around to buying and fitting the Vibe amp (future project)

There are 2 sizes for the standard BMW speakers 4 1/2" and 4", our E89's take the 4" size only, so there's a good chance they got the wrong size, as all of the BMW 4" ones fit the same way.

Hi Mr. T.

I have the speaker covers on the doors but no sound. Would I be correct in saying the wires would already be there it’s just a case of plugging the speakers in? 🤷‍♂️

I think if i remember rightly you have the little tweeters in the grills at the top of the door..you can disconnect those and use that wiring to run in some proper door speakers

Thanks

So there is no Net gain? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Wouldn't say that Jock..from what I have heard there is a substantial uptick in both volume and sound quality..the 1 inch tweeter in the pods receives a full signal so replacing with a 4 inch door speaker allows you to take full advantage of that signal with a more substantial speaker

Ah get you! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

So how much posted? 🤞🤞🤞😉
I'll pm you buddy but happy to do 25 quid posted ..note you will need adapter plates to fit these..something like these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT25BM09-100mm-Front-Door-Car-Speaker-Adaptor-For-BMW-3-Series-2011-2019-/351738069132?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Any recommendations for audio installations in the South West, thought of doing speaker upgrade myself is daunting.

I just bit the bullet and went for the Vibe speaker & amp upgrade @ £264.58 delivered to Dublin with Prime.
Should have the amp delivered on Sat and the speakers on Sunday.

If possible, i will test how the Vibe Amp sounds with the stock BMW basic speaker setup then install the Vibe speakers on Sunday.

If one does not have the mid-range speaker & tweeter at the front on the dashboard and in the back behind the center console is this difficult to get working?

i.e. Is there cabling already so that it will be a "plug & play" install or is there extra wiring involved?

AFAIK the wiring harness for each car is specific to the sound system..it certainly is as far as the 676 vs 677 systems..

Hmm... That's as i suspected.

Thanks B21!

Vibe OptiSound AMP is in.

There is a huge amount of cabling that is not required. Vibe could have optimised this.

It does take quite a bit of space.
I have to figure this out as the head unit does not fit.

There is an improvement in sound quality.
Nothing major / stupendous. You wouldn't notice it if you didn't do a before & after. But considering the price, it's probably worth it.

Has anyone installed speakers and new wiring harness or is it just too bigger job, sometimes there’s a smaller link harness plugged into the main cabin harness?
