Speaker upgrade

Nick your car is coded to base stereo and so the treble is boosted to reflect the lack of tweeters. Having the car recoded to Hifi will take the harshness away from the system. Also the midbass would benefit from a sealed baffle.

Thanks! I thought the treble was a bit high. I'll have a go at re-coding it today with NCS Expert.

Just re-coded..sounds much warmer :)

I followed this guide View attachment E90 ENTERTAINMENT AND COMMUNICATION.zip

with a couple of exceptions...

After step 8 I had to choose 'chassis', 'CAS' before it would take my VIN.

After step 19 (FA_Write on CAS) I chose change ECU, and performed the FA_Write on CIC.

Then change process to SG_Codieren, and Execute Job - this will change a line in the coding from Stereo to hifi.

Glad it worked out. The power of forums eh? :D

On the bass front, the standard woofer is 2 ohm and the InPhase is 4 ohm, so harder to drive. How is the bass at low medium and high volume?

Do you think you need the amp? The reason I ask is that there is no room (the 4 channel amps I have are monster huge) and I don't have the time to take the whole car apart.

To be honest, I haven't fitted the amp yet... and I'm wondering if its worth the hassle.

I had the same concern as you - changing from 2 to 4 ohm. But the bass seems really punchy at low, mid and 'quite high'. I'm yet to really crank it up!
