I've not previously done much in the way of ICE installs but thought I would have a go at the weekend.. I had already swapped the headunit but the woeful standard 6 speakers still seemed like a limiting factor and inspired by others on this forum, I thought I would swap the fronts out for some better replacements.
(I used in-phase xt6c as I was offered a very good price on them. http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-in-phase-xt6c-ii_p-23355.htm)
The standard philips speakers I removed are really cheap and weedy looking.
Its probably quite an easy job to do for someone that's done it before but i'm ashamed to say it took me about 4-5 hours!, lower speaker swap was ok (bit fiddly), but the tweeter housing needed modifying to take the new tweeters and threading all the wiring through the doors and dashboard then locating the crossovers was of bit painful journey
end result and the sound is much better (could do with a little more bass) and I think I could probably do it again in less then half the time....not that I ever would
However at the end of the exercise I had managed to skin my knuckles, flatten my battery and now have an airbag warning light, I assume I've knocked something during the surgery...
any recommendations on what its likely to be or how to identify? I had both door cards off and some of the lower dashboard...is there anything that might be particularly vulnerable?
