Probably going to sell when it's fixed, it won't sell before it's fixed so will have to take the hit on it sadly. Good thing is when this is done it's in fantastic condition mechanically and with a good long detail will look the dogs, so coupled with the 103's with winter tyres i'll give for free with it I'm hopeful i'll still get towards £6k for it.

I put the stereo on today after leaving it surrounded in kitchen roll last night to dry up. Feedback and horrible noises for a few seconds from the speaker behind me, then after that it was fine and played normally for a few mins, before feedback came back. Quite promising, I don't see how the amp would be working and playing if it was completely knackered?
After a bit of experimenting/playing about I'm pretty sure the cracked rear centre brake light is causing it, doesn't seem to be any seal stopping water getting in and running straight down into the boot from there. Will be Batemans to get fixed on Monday, until then using plenty of kitchen roll and some improvising to keep water away. They're going to take out the battery and amp and dry them off, hopefully the amp will be fine as it seems to be behaving again now after a good dry out, if not I'll look into my options.

Should have put a valve there really and am sure someone will shoot me down for it, but I can live at peace knowing my amp is safe.
Wouldn't say it's sorted, speaker still giving a fair bit of feedback, although the rest of the system is playing fine. Part of me is hoping that it'll just be one speaker that's blown and need replacing, but still preparing myself for having to fork out for a new amp. Reluctant to go down the aftermarket path in case it either effects re-sale or causes problems in the future..
Back from Batemans now.
Had the rear 3rd break light replaced and sealed up, and water testing showed no more water ingress so hopefully problem solved there! To be honest I was aware the 3rd break light had a slight crack in it for a while now but thought nothing more of it, i guess it finally gave way and let the water in. If you have a cracked 3rd break light take my advice and get it fixed ASAP to save you a costly repair!
Now onto the bad bit! The amp does need replacing sadly. Just been onto Sopers in Lincoln to find out how much it is with forum discount, and it's £849.941
Batemans will then fit and code it all in for about £50, so looking like £900 all in for the replaced amp. Absolutely gutted at such an expensive and pointless repair for just a bit of water getting into the boot. Happily pay £900 to improve the car, but just to fix something that was ok last week before a bit of water got in is hard

Well that's the amp fitted, coded and everything back to normal, via a bill of over £1000, all because of a little bit of broken plastic.
Having seen how expensive these things are, if anyone wants the old water damaged amp to either see if they can fix it up or use it for parts they're more then welcome to it for free, give me a shout.
