Speaker blown / upgrade

Hi

I have the basic sound system (poor) no sub and door speakers, the rear passenger speaker has blown, so working out a plan.

1) I could simple up rate the rear speakers?? What the size and make and spec would you recommend?

2) I could go to scrap yard and purchased the speaker system from another z4 and get the front door speakers as well?? I know that there are grills but are the BMW cables present to the head unit?

3) I could go to scrap yard and purchase the speakers another z4 and get the front door speakers as well ?? and maybe the sub as well!!! or better off installing a SWD-2000 sub instead??

Please could you advise what the best option? And detail would be great !!

Save your money, PM me your details and I'll post you a replacement, as the for other questions.

1)Uprating the rears is simple, you'll need a shallow mount 4"(10cm) component or coaxle. but I'd suggest just replacing it for a working one and upgrading the entire system when you're ready.

2)There no wires for the door cards but it's simple to splice into the tweater wires and stick some shallow mount 4"(10cm) speakers in there, but remember depth is an issue so it doesn't foul the window runner, an otion is to purchase the stock speaker from the rear and splice it into the doors, since they're the same as the rear they slot straight in and wont push the headunit too much and wont overpower the others.

3)I have posted a thread with the journey I went through for my sound upgrade that will give you an indication of what's involved Thread it's a big job but well worth it.

But that's just me, see what others think.

Seen these on ebay would they be any good for the doors and think they got mount on. is that correct?

I'd suggest you use a pm to contact me so I'd remove that email address from your post stat.

Also those are for the footwell or the woofer panels so they are far too large for the doors.
