Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on which Speakers require a modified adapter to fit after market speakers in to the stock positions?

I'll be looking to replace every speaker apart from the 2 midbass speakers lower down behind the chairs...

Speakers I had in mind were : Hertz ESK 163.3L( http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/7967/referer/rc_google.html ) for the Front and Hertz ECX 100.3( http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8401.html ) for the mid rears behind the head rests....

Any help, advice or links would be appreciated?

Cheers,
E

I'm wondering this too, usually the bmw oem speakers have 3 bolts in a triangular shape instead of 4 on the components.

I've bought some decent Focal 2 ways and I'm about to have a go at getting them in, will think about swapping for 3 ways in the future.

For the front kick panel speakers you simply need to drill new holes. The mids in the door you'll have to get creative as they are a 3 bolt speaker.

As for the rears i wouldnt bother, i dont use mine now as the sound from the front is so good and fills the cab plenty.

I have read that the mids in the rear are a bit of a pain in the ar5e to access/install too - so I may pass based upon this and your recommendation mate...

So un1each what did you do for your mids in the front?? Did you actually buy some 3 Hole Adapters like these ones in the following link? The SA-004 ones which are the 100mm diamater which, is right for the mids i think?! (http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Speaker_adaptors/universal.htm)

Also I take it the tweeters are a piece of piss!?!

I'm not sure if they'll work as you can see in the picture below the panel is a strange shape...

I went with a 2 way component set and relocated the tweeters to the doors where the mids would go.

Jesus - that is a strange shape eh...like you said - maybe a custom job then or I might just leave it to whoever I get to install the speakers/system!

Decided to pass on the rear mids too...probably not worth the hassle when the front components should take care of a cabin so small! :)

Cheers for your help un1each....again! ;)
