Spark Plugs - replacement...

The Zeds felt a bit flat this past 1000 miles or so, but I thought I should start with the simple things first.

I pulled the plugs and they look like OEM BMW plugs. Looking at the service history, it's possible they are original fit. Certainly overdue a change, that's for sure!

Gone for Denso TTi to replace them. £48 inc Vat for the set. Hopefully normal service will be resumed :)

Are you sure it’s not the weather... I thought my M was down on power recently... went out in a friend’s & felt very similar...

Then there’s also the coil packs...

I've literally just ordered a set of denso TTN plugs to change mine over, fairly sure they've not been done for some time. With discount on ecp they were £25. Are they much worse at that much cheaper than tti plugs? Reviews all looked real good!

Well that's made a difference!

Power back up, no hesitation on acceleration, much smoother start, better midrange acceleration.

According to my Torque app, 0-60 had dropped from 6.1 - 6.9 seconds and BHP was around the 188 mark with the old plugs. New plugs and we're back up to an indicated 200BHP & 6.1 seconds again.

What a result!! Can't wait to get mine changed now! Plugs arrived today but alas, the wife has a full weekend planned so it shall have to wait

Literally a 20 minute job - so long as you have the right tools. I think you need a thin walled socket on the M54. Dead easy on the N52, just pop the engine cover off, press and lift the cable clips, pull off the coils and un-screw the plugs.

TBH, any new spark plug will show significant improvement over one that's been in for somewhere around 100 000 miles. There's often slight performance differences between them and longevity and performance fall off is normally the main factor.

I gather the Bosch are very popular and well rated. Denso is the leading Japanese brand and the Supra kiddies love them!

I recently fitted a set of Bosch Platinum plugs in my Zed. The third set of these that I've had as I change mine every 2 years irrespective. Why wouldn't you when a set of 6 on Ebay costs only a smidge over £30 ?!

Well, I finally got around to replacing my plugs as previously mentioned! Not had a chance to take her out yet but looking at the old ones (photo attached) I think they were due a change regardless. I think I'm going to take the previous posters advice and just replace regularly from now on.

I replaced mine today, I kind of agree it’s something very easy to change that can make such a difference

£33 inc vat from GSF, and the spark socket cost me £4 from eBay

Any thoughts on the ignition coil packs, how often should these be changed. I can see certainly one of mines has been changed at some point

Hello Z4 fam. I am about to change my plugs in my 2007 3.0i N52 roadster.
I bought the NGK Laser Platinum PLZFR6A-11S (5987) and I looked in my manual but can't find a gap setting for them.
Anyone know the gap for them??
Thanks

It’s for your plugs 3.0 n52 cheers :driving:

Thank you. The plugs I bought came at about 0.040 strait out of the box.
Seems close enough for me.
