Spark plug question 30i N52

Just checking on spark plug intervals for my 2009 30i. Should they be changed with mileage or is age a factor too?

Service history shows mine were last changed during a BMW service in 2017 at 44k miles. Mileage is now 63k, so mileage wise they are fine I assume, but should they be changed at, 2,4… 8,10 years if mileage is relatively low?

Ok thanks Zed B, it’s going in next week for what will be the second oil change since they were installed, so I will have the sparkies done too

I did do a bit of research online and saw several pieces of information some mentioned 37k miles and others 60k miles and no mention of age, nothing lasts forever though, hence my asking the question here, I then spoke to BMW they also said they were due, I assume in line with Zed B’s answer of every other oil change.

I decided I may as well get them done during the service next week, can’t do any harm right chaps. :D

Funnily enough I've had all my oil changes done by my local BMW dealer and its the first time I can recall seeing this every 2nd oil service bit for the plugs :scratchhead:

Times are hard, maybe it’s their latest money making scheme.

When I asked them if and when they could fit it in next week, they said…we are very quiet, when would you like to bring it in, clearly not beating customers away.

I don't believe this every 2nd oil change suggestion, in my case that would be every 10,000 miles! Spark plugs intervals are based on mileage rather than age unlike other components say e.g. a cam belt in some cars. When I researched this everywhere I looked and checked stated 60,000 miles. No harm in doing them sooner though.
