Spark plug change before they are due?

Well my n52 is just coming on 5 years old and is only approching its first inspection1 service...I have ignored this service schedule tho and changed the oil etc every year.

But I see that the only difference in an inspection 2 to 1 service is a change of spark plugs and an air filter.

Have always changed the filter at each service for peace of mind but does anyone think you should change the plugs before required? Does anyone do this? Is there any advantage of changing the plugs before they are broke or is it unnecessary? thanks

Hi, I had my spark plugs changed at my last service, oil, due to the fact that when cold it was sometimes hesitant until warmed up properly, mileage was 36K, new plugs and has run fine since

thanks darron.

as a matter of intrest was your service carried out at a BMW or indy or yourself? and did you ask for them to be changed?

Alright thanks for the reply matey. Mine can the odd time be hesistant on startup to, what plugs did you go for? don't know much about them like what makes and types are best etc.

Yikes thats alot! The cheapest I can find 6 NGK iridiums for is £67 off ebay - other websites at the same price too.

Anyone know if the stock plugs are iridium?

Did a bit of research and the plugs to go for appear to be either the NGK Iridium or Denso Iridium Power plug. Anyone use the Denso plug?

This page shows the two for anyone who is intrested

Took a plug out to see what they looked like..they were slightly black around the tip, not much deposits really and it all scraped off with my fingernail but think Ill change them anyway.
