The long bolts are to secure the battery via clamps. The Carver amp should be located between the battery and rear of the battery compartment with the tool kit next to the amp.
WOW!! Thanks for the pic.... right, looks like I may have been mis-sold... Tedster - does yours look like Nick's pic above? So, it seems I don't have the system with the amp but rather the standard HIFI system.
Nick - not that it should make a difference but is yours the Coupe or the Roadster?
Mine (until Sunday. ) is a 3.0 Roadster witha build date of Oct 2003.
That was very cheeky of the dealer to try and pull a fast one with the steering wheel. I'm glad you've caught them out with the HiFi.
Doh, it's a coupe so a facelift, so they're not lying to you. Send a PM to GVofB he will know all about it. Also, you'll know if it's got an uprated hifi by the large speakers behind the seats, and the DSP menu comes up on the satnav screen or on the CD player.
Do you think it is possible that the amp has moved locations as mine is a september 07 coupe?
I have paid in full for the car but it is still in the dealership. Given the situation with the hifi system, I may well just pull out and hope I can get a refund....
Thank you for putting my mind at rest!! Yes the car is an 07 June build so yes definitely a facelift model. I just got worried after the business with the steering wheel! :?
No worries, I see from your other thread that the car has professional nav so you'll be able to pull up the DSP menu on the nav screen anyway if it's there.
Yes it does have the prof sat nav, but I didn't look on there. The car was stuck up on the second floor of the dealership so I could not drive away in it, but I just spoke to the manager and the car is OUT!!! :-D!!! I should be able to collect it on Sunday... fingers crossed... I would like to go tomorrow, but it is my good friends 30th, so somehow I don't think he would understand!
I got a nice portable compressor from SLIME that fits in there along with a flat repair kit since I removed my RFTs. Fits quite nicely and completely out of sight.
Umm - did you look to see? I have the high end sound system in my coupe and there are no parts of the sound systems back there at all. I have taken the back end apart to add in a DICE interface and all of the amps/DSP items I saw were up at the front of the boot area just behind seats where the cross bracing metal wall resides. There was no audio wiring that went aft of that location beyond the FM antenna.
Interesting - I paid for access to the BMW tech info site and downloaded all of the details of where these parts are located for 2005-2007 and never saw a reference to anything being back behind the battery on a non ///M.
