Spacers fitted to my Z4C

After picking my Z4C up a few months ago and having done a few mods like black grill and stubby aerial I turned my attention to the stance. Long term plans are to get coilovers but for starters I fitted wheel spacers all around. Having done my research I see that a lot of people go with 20mm rear and 15mm front but I feel a bit bigger for the 18" MV2's would look better and I know from past experience lowering on coilovers the wheels will sink back into the arch so I went for 25mm rear and 20mm front.
I'm pleased with the results even on the the OEM M Sport suspension. I've done a fair few miles and so far no rubbing, car is on the standard RE05 RF tyres for now anyway.

Sorry but it looks like you've bought wheels that don't fit. See this kind of look on Golfs etc buying wheels with too aggressive an offset that never should have been.

Bit harsh :( 5mm over the norm from the 20mm - 15mm spacers that many forumites fit i don't think it looks crazy :?
The rears are virtually what 224s look like on non Ms & ive never heard anyone complain about those looking too aggressive :?
Fronts look a tidy fit too imo

As above I don't see any stretch tyres there or sump scraping chassis! God help you Steve if you saw my car youd probably have a hernia

So nothing like your's then Jamie :)

OP, I had 15 & 20mm on mine, with 108's and then 107's with std size tyres, so I like that "look" As Mr Wilks said, 224's on a non-M stick out as much, if not further at the rear, but again I love the look on mine.

Looks fine to me.

Ignore Steve, he usually has an issue with everything that isn't 100% race car approved, despite the majority of us having no interest in tracking our cars.

I tried 20mm spacers on the front of mine (with eibach springs) and they rubbed the arch liners. The sound was bloody awful  I have 12mm now, no rubbing

Yes, I'm more interested in how it drives than how it looks. Not trying to be argumentative (as you usually are beng) just saying what I see.

Porsche have got it spot on for me with arch gaps and spacing on their GT cars:

Anything that extends beyond the arch reminds me of this:

Only pulling your leg Steve :poke: unfortunately sarcasm and banter are quite difficult to portray across the Internet.

Absolutely, the Porsche looks a perfect fit, Aswell as the golf looking terrible.

But, the op's Z4 looks nothing like the golf. It doesn't have stretched tyres for a start. Neither do the tyres, nor the alloys extend beyond the wheel arches.

I've fitted these exact size spacers on my Z4 (with 107's) in the past, and whilst I could not drive it with the 20mm spacers on the front, the actual alloy or tyre didn't protrude beyond the arches.

I would post photo's, but photobucket are holding my photo's for a randsom, which I will not pay for.

A little over hyped but they do stick out a bit, perhaps best to reserve judgement for when it's lowered...

Most likely stick out less but rub more

Yep, will rub constantly on the fronts, sadly.

You can apparently manipulate the wheel arch liner to stop the rubbing in the usual place. I tried it, but failed.

Rears won't be a problem, however.

Well that escalated quickly and made me chuckle, thanks guys 😀

I'm not interested in tracking the car, I'd be too afraid off binning it. The look I'm going for is OEM+ , lowered and with the wheels filling the arches better, I'd like to think this is how BMW's designers would of sketched it to begin with before all the production compromises come into play. I will hopefully end up with a good compromise between looks and handling although it may well handle better too with good quality coilovers properly set up versus the worn out 100k shocks and springs.

For anyone looking to get spacers on standard M Sport suspension I'd treat 25mm as maximum on the rear, it isn't sticking out but is absolutely flush with the arch, 20mm on the front looks perfect to my eyes. As already said the rear will sink nicely in once lowered.

I can't really see the Golf comparison myself, do I have five inch dish wheels sticking out way beyond the arch, are my tyres redicuosly stretched to breaking point, massive amounts of negative camber, is there a little toy hanging from the rear tow hook, do I hang around in car parks vaping although I've never actually smoked? The answer is most definitely a no 👍
