Spacer question

So whilst washing the Z yesterday I noticed there was quite a gap between the edge of the wheel and the arch. I will post up pictures but was wondering if there was a 'usual standard' size spacers people use. This is purely cosmetic and is probably only me that will notice it, but it bugs me none the less!
I have seen plenty of spacers in eBay, is a spacer a spacer or is there anything specific to look for?
Best width?
Thanks

Think we need more information, post a picture of your car and we can see what wheels you have.

Spacers are fine, adding a 5.0mm spacer will not effect much, just remember to buy longer bolts. For MOT purposes the tyre must not protrude from the top of the wheel arch

Two pics of my arches and the space available. Is it simply a case of measuring the distance between the edge of the wheel and the inside of the arch then ordering the spacers accordingly?
Is there any down fall to having spacers?
Thanks

So I will be getting some for both front and back later this weekend.
I am thinking 12mm for the front and 20mm for the backs
Hub centric spacers for both. I think the fronts are actually 12.5mm
Had a tape measure on it and these look good to me.

Any one with a similar set up?

From the moment i bought my Z4 the same thing bugged me, it looks daft and lets down the aggressive sporty look.
I have 20mm spacers on the back and 15mm (or 12mm i cant remember?) on the front
it makes a WOLD of difference looks wise!
I have had no problems, but i would suggest making sure your tracking is tip-top once your done as if it was out before it might expand the problem?
Let me find you some images

Hi all i am interested in this also. I don't like the huge gap :( I am planing to make my own dose any one know any dimensions for the spacers? Or what the PCD of the bolt holes on the hub are?

The dark alloys look amazing Luke

Where is the best place to get spacers?

Might treat myself for Christmas 20mm rear and 12mm or 15mm front.. I am also assumming you need longer wheel nuts.
