Space saver wheel?

Do you know please if a space saver wheel and tyre would fit in the boot of my 2010 E89, allowing for the roof to be down?

I'm ditching my run flats.

The wheels are 19 inch. Should I get a 17 inch space saver or 18?

Hi Check out the section tyres and wheels I inserted photo's showing a space saver wheel in a E89. With the roof down its not a problem. For away time depends how big a packer you are or how long your trip is planned. I can get two luggage bags (116mm wide / high) into the boot above the wheel and below the guard for the top when down. Of course if you are unlucky enough to get a puncture then the punctured wheel will take more space in the boot,and its probably roof up until you get to a tyre depo for repair.

I am of to France next week for 10 days with a space saver and lugage in the boot. and a couple of bags behind the seats.

As for size its worth checking out hero space savers as they offer different sizes I have 18 inch wheels and have an 18 inch spare.
 
You can get a full-size 19" wheel in an E89 boot and still open the roof. Which you'll need to do with the one you remove!

Thread 'Atacama Yellow 35is build thread'

I thought (this time) I'd document the changes and mods I'm doing to this virginal 2011 model year 35is which came pretty fully loaded with options.

Judging by the notorious tail lights this example has spent most of its life garaged. (no water born damage)

The car appeared in Auto Trader, then here and then, ironically for me, in a local garage in my old folks home town.

It had just done under 50k miles, and just been 'serviced' by an indy by the previous owner.

The price I paid was way,way,way more than WBAC suggested pricing but way way below the original listed price.

As discussed buy a full size used 19” e89 front wheel n tyre ..simplest solution and the most useful….you could by an 18” space saver and that’s ok ish providing you drive like Miss Daisy…17” space savers tend to list badly…

Carry a tire plug repair kit and a can of tire sealer/inflater and if Uk has anything like in the U.S., The Tripple A road side assistant service get that, I’ve done this for the last 25 years with 4 different weekend cars which includes my currant Z4, —-peace of mind without taking up trunk space.
 
I carry a repair kit and a quality portable air pump. A scissor jack & wrench as well. Of course if your unable to properly plug the tire you'll need to phone for a tow.

Flat tires are relatively rare, so this would probably be a safe plan.
 
All my Zed punctures needed a new tyre ..irreparable..and almost all other car punctures were in the same category
 
Never had a tear or puncture that wasn’t repairable, once I did have a puncture that was close to the side wall, and a repair kit fixed that. So if you value some trunk space get a repair kit and a can of tire sealer/inflater and buy road side service, but if trunk space is not important then get a space saver, but remember you will also need a jack and lug wrench to go with it.

It's very much personal choice here. I've never used a repair kit as I've not wanted to take a chance so opted for a space saver. In fact, recently, I've replaced the space saver with a full sized spare! Either option compromises boot space to laughable impractical levels.
 
And also first time i ripped side wall out it was middle of nowhere, no phone signal.
To be honest i just drove home on the flat tyre and was run flat tyre.
Just about got home before came off the rim.
Reason i carry space saver.
