Off to the airshow tomorrow for first time & want to get a decent space on the beach;

Any recommendations / tips / experience on what time should get there etc?

Feeling a few doughnuts on the beach might be in order...
 
Shades, sunscreen, comfy chair, cold beer (if you're not driving of course) - and wave like hell at the Vulcan if she's there (scheduled to be). Awesome, just awesome.

And remember, unless you're a pro with pukka kit you will not get decent pics with a standard digital camera (or phone :roll: ) so DON'T do what too many people do and watch the entire show on a 2 inch screen! Look up and enjoy the aircraft!

Good call on the doughnuts - one of the 5 essential food groups!

Yup, she's gorgeous isn't she?

As British as the Spitfire, or an E-type, or eggs and bacon, or...well, you get the picture! Don't sound too shabby either does she?!!? Saw her at Waddington this year both days - Saturday's display was awesome in particular.
 
This Vulcan was donated by the UK just before the Falkland war. When the war started, they came back to "borrow" a few parts. After the war, they were returned and this is what it looks like today. It's at the former Castle Air Force base, Atwater, CA USA.

 
Ah XM605 at Castle Air Force Base. Pretty well preserved and I've been fortunate enough to have a close look at her. Sometimes i think the Americans are betting at preserving our engineering heritage than we are!

I live in Southport and my garden is always a good spot .... The Lancaster yesterday was the lowest fly-over I can remember, the Red Arrows also swoop over low after the outrun of the 'Cross-Over' stunt they do !

Thanks! Nice fine. When you stand underneath the Vulcan, you can really appreciate what a monster it is.
