Hi Guys,

Get my Z4 on Saturday! Be nice to meet the gang at some point so if theres any interest maybe we could meet in the Sheffield / Barnsley / Rotherham area at some point?!

Regards,
Tom

I'm only over the Pennines in Liverpool, so an hour's drive over Woodhead could see me in Barnsley or anywhere a bit north/south of it.

Nice one guys! I'll update the Thread once I get the Z4...and we can try arrange a date!

Be nice to meet you all!!!

I'll try, but with Chinese New Year been within a week of this date I'm not sure I'll be free to make it!

I''ll see how it goes! Be good to get some pictures and meet some of you guys and girls ;)

Tom let me know of any meets in our area or surrounding area and i'll tag along

May be worth seeing if we can this boxed off again if theres any interest.

I for one am up for it.......

How about doing the 'Oopnürthring'?

Ya know what, that could be kinda cool.

I only live at Thrybergh where i've put the red dot, although i spend quite a bit of time at Stannington where i've put the purple dot so i could be coming from there, so either way it's good for me :)

Can anyone send me a .axe or .itn file of the oopnurthring? Or a link to a google map?

The route link is below the picture!

I used to drive all over that area when I worked in Sheffield for a couple of years. I was always trying to find shorter, faster, more scenic, more exciting routes to get home on Friday nights.
I used to go down as far as Chesterfield before heading over towards Buxton, Macclesfield, or Chapel-en-le-Frith - mostly through Baslow or Hathersage. Sometimes I'd end up on a road that just got narrower and narrower until it reached a hill-top with a small parking/turning area where I'd have to retrace my steps - with the aid of my trusty Rangefinder/Pathfinder maps.

It's much easier now with satnavs, but it does take some of the fun out of it, so I tend to do my routes on paper, then on googlemaps and then onto my tomtom. I still carry a paper map with me for the odd occasions that the satnav is wrong/lost/broken.

I remember coming along the Snake one Saturday morning (over 10 years ago) - about 3am after a late finish at work - in a storm and coming over a crest (quite quickly) when I was hit by a gust of wind and ended up in the other lane of the road, perfectly straight and I was able to continue without so much as a lift of the accelerator or dip of the clutch/brake.

That'll teach me to keep it below 100mph in a storm
