The South-East Hooners decided to make a proper weekend of this year's Shepshed meet and have a couple of overnight stays so, rather than a (Shep)shedload of pictures of the meet, here's a few of our 500+ mile roadtrip
After an early-morning meet at the Dartford McDonalds to fill ourselves with fat, grease and mechanically-reclaimed 'meat', twelve of us in six cars headed up towards Nottingham taking a scenic route via Suffolk
Mike & Debs
Stu Boy & Alli
Tim & Nadia
Jan & Monika
Eddie & Donna (and a bit of slaphead)
We found plenty of nice roads as we headed off into the flatlands...
and some nicely scenic towns and villiages...
but, eventually, we had to stop for a bit of lunch at a nice pub where Mike was a bit surprised at the prices!
Jan managed to run over Monika's foot in the car park, nothing was broken but she wasn't exactly 'jumping for joy'....
Lunch over, we found plenty more decent tarmac as we headed cross-country towards Nottingham...
Never went over 30 once, honest officer...
Stu managed to show us why he really is Mr. FixIt with his invisible wing mirror repairs...
We eventually arrived at the hotel in Nottingham, had a quick shower then got down to the serious business of curry & beer
The following morning, bright, early and a little hungover, we arrived at Shepshed where....
I had a nice long chat with markeg... Cindy soon got bored and wandered off to play with the horses....
The ladies settled in for a chat and made themselves comfortable with 'a nice cuppa' (or six)
Eddie tried to pick up some new vices....
The girls compared 'driving shoes'....
...and took selfies....
Stu Boy attempted to show Jan how BMW put the ///Magic in his ///M...
and Jan tried hard to persuade people that he only ran over Monika's foot because of 'slop' in the steering...
The obligatory group photo of the South-East Hooners... (T-Shirts arranged by Donna)
...and their cars....
After the meet, we drove to Inkberrow in Worcestershire where we spent the night in an old pub and Eddie showed us the fruits of his misspent youth with a night on the pool table. The pub provided us with a most excellent full English breakfast but, on the way home, we still had to stop for a proper cream tea... but...
...some people found the excitement of the weekend had all been a bit too much....
Mike2510 plotted the route, which included a lot of lay-bys, Stu Boy got an upgrade from Jarhead and Eddie only got lost once....
Great weekend guys, thanks to you all for being such good company...
