I have been running some staggered 19" CSL reps for a while now that I sourced from Chris at CM Wheels.
A few weeks ago a young driver drove into me on a roundabout. It was a low speed impact so only light cosmetic damage and he has admitted fault so we are going through the insurers. My car is currently in the body shop for a new door and a bit of paint. The other party also took a small chunk out of one of my rear alloys.
The bodyshop suggested sourcing a replacement wheel rather than repairing it, as the impact could have warped the wheel.
I spoke to Chris at CM Wheels but he is all out of hyper silver CSL reps however.
On this basis the bodyshop are now talking about sending the wheel off to a specialist to check if it is still 'true' and then repairing it instead if feasible. I know there are a number of different producers of CSL reps and am unsure of the origin of mine, but it seems to me that the next best fix would be just to replace the two CSL reps on the back with another pair. Even if they are a different brand to the front, the differences are likely to be minimal I would have thought and if there are a matching pair on the back then any weight difference is equalised across the back axle. I would have thought the cost of an extra wheel would likely be cheaper than having my damaged one sent to specialist for analysis.
Does anyone know of any other suppliers of CSL reps for the Z4?
Does anyone else have an alternate view on the best way of solving this situation?
