Sound resinator..

holly smokes!! That was awesome..

So are you saying MarkB in this video had also removed part of the sound resonator foam, or is this unmodded resonator (although i understand he had changed the air filter)? The engine sound sounds completely different to my 2003 3.0i

Eeekkk - testing my memory now :D I THINK he had removed the larger foam as well, but not 100% sure. I believe he may be still active on zed-cars if you are registered there, or perhaps someone who is might post for you and ask him.

One of the all time great Z4 vids though
:worshipbmw:

All I can say is, if that aint a M just a 3.0 then I need to get a sound resonator Now!

bet it will cost the earth :x

...question is, should I get it fitted?
Watch this and then decide :D IIRC this vid was shot by MarkB on Z4um and he had an intake kit or performance filter of some description, still sounds awesome though.

If it was MarkB, he also had an Eisenmann Race exhaust too.

I have a 2007 3.0si also and I don't think my car has the sound generator installed also. I just can't seem to find it.

I just checked the link that Wondermike provided and my intake end looks just like the 1st intake shown on in the picture with no sound generator coming out of the end. I guess BMW didn't install the sound generator for newer? z4's?

Thanks for the confirmation, nyczyang27. And thanks for the awesome link, Wondermike. Looking at the diagram, I can tell with confidence that my 2007 definitely does NOT have the resonator. I can see the inlet plug (part 11 on the diagram) and there is no hose plugged into it. Drat! I don't even get the DAMPENED sound. Oh well... it's still way fun to drive, and I can always make the brdddduuummmm sounds if I want like I did as a kid on my stingray bike.

Yeah I confirm, pretty dang sure MarkB had the Eisenmann exhaust. Can't remember the details beyond that though.
That was one of the best videos IMO I saw on Z4um, makes me realize how much I miss the Autobahn around the Ramstein area...well ok the autobahn in Germany period.

Buy the parts and fit it, no? It seems strange that it doesn't come as standard, before I posted the link I was 100% that not only was the sound generator not fitted to the Si models, but that it never existed either. Maybe it is standard in certain markets?
