Just get rid of electric power steering, Turbo`s and auto/twin clutch gearboxes and I would be happy, I just like steering with some feel and a natural sounding engine and a manual gearbox...I don't want to go too far back :D

All joking aside it is the modern way and we cant go back so I will embrace it reluctantly

GT4 and spyder values of the current 3.8 are going to rocket !

Until the 2016/17 crash happens and suddenly all of these things will be affordable again.

Could well happen. If I could get my hands on a 987 Spyder for sub £30k then I'll be happy.

Quite like a carb & manual choke :D
or rather set of sidedraughts or 4 barrel on a V8................I can actually sense/feel the throttle position better when you can hear the induction......my current car's a digital robot in comparison(has it's other good features though)

i think it looks lovely sounds very mediocre will handle better than anything previous and will sell very well... does anyone know if the cayman range gets the same engines as per previous boxster/caymans?

I dare say the engines will be rolled out through the range as emissions regs choke the living day lights from normally aspirated lumps

Surely removing 2cylinders should drop off a fair bit of weight off the engine block too, hopefully get close to 1200kgs or lighter.

Apart from the lack of boxer 6 sound, maybe this could turn out to be a better driver...

Interesting times

Agree with losing two cylinders makes it lighter but then you must add the weight of the turbo & its plumbing for oil/water plus the weight of an intercooler, the engine must be beefed up as well to cope with compressed charge running which would probably involve forged internals such as crank/rods/Pistons these would weigh more than cast items.

I think we all would they are still holding very firm - the killer for me on the Gen 1 Spyder is the roof - no Autobahn blasts in the rain in that car. Something that was fixed on the 981 . there seems to be a lot of views on whether the GTS sub brand will remain NA.

Not many performance cars weigh that little nowadays and 1400kgs seems to be about the best you get, my two favourite cars I have had were my Cerbera and 200sx and they were both around the 1200kg weight and I see it as a sweet spot unless you then go Caterham or similar.

I'd take my Nostalgia for Porsche Roadsters like this thanks...

http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-for-sale/boxster/981-boxster-spyder-for-sale-793

The premiums over RRP have not reached the silly levels of the GT4 .

Just should have optioned the stereo / Satnav

That's just so lush, it has cruise but no Nav, I could live with that I think

Watching this closely as I am after a 981 Cayman or Boxster GTS. Always wanted a 911 but I am coming away from that idea these days. They still look beautiful though.

Same colour as my Targa - it was the silver put on the Carrera GT and RS60 Spyders - not a lot not to like about that car.... I think here the sound of Beedubs M being driven to JZM for a look.

I thought the 1st gen box spyder was in the 1200s

Just checked and you are spot on  and I didn't realise they were as light as that to be fair, my Cerbera had 420bhp and weighed between 1100 and 1200kg so it felt pretty quick and it's good to know I can get a Porsche with a similar weight :driving:

I think manufacturers have forgotten that for most petrolheads its the engine and the noise it emits that makes the car for them. It is a shame that it seems the norm now to cut cylinders and produce a synthethised sound pumped into the interior to compensate. I honestly don't think I could go back to a 4cyl.

I think it is just one thing among many in what petrol heads like about cars, after all if you are a purest then only a V configuration (including flat/boxer) will do and then a 12, 8 then 10 and then 6 in that order. What all you neanderthals are missing is that this is a flat four boxer and should not be confused with an inline 4 found in most production cars, which also has an illustrious rallying heritage
