Note the diagram does not show the last item because the diagram assumes standard fitment to 3.0 engine (which has the last item)
The last item is the 80mm rubber elbow with the take-off point for the SG and replaces the elbow on the 2.5 engine which does not have this take-off. Important.. you cant do it without this part.
I fitted this mod to mine and removed the foam nearest the bulkhead,, Sounds like it has an induction kit now from inside the cockpit .

For the 3.0-liter model only, a special “sound generator” was developed. “Sound generator” is a misnomer; “selective sound
filter” would be more accurate. In any case, the sound of the engine is managed in a very specific manner. The sound generator brings the sound back to the firewall to make it more apparent to the driver and passenger. In addition, this system filters out some of the naturally occurring sounds and selects others. The sounds that are selected for are those associated with a performance roadster. The result is a sound, especially upon acceleration, similar to a big V8 engine. Not only is the sound pleasing but it also provides feedback to the driver; the power is heard as well as felt.
In the BMW acoustic labs, the various components can be tested independently. On all three models, 2.2, 2.5 and 3.0 liter, the various sounds are graphed over the whole engine range. The characteristics can be mixed and tuned to complement one another. The process is almost like a musician mixing a recording. Testing is then done in an acoustic chamber with a rolling road. Final testing is, of course, done on actual roads.

I did my 2.5 recently, following the zpost link and Gookahs' info above.
All good, just one or two bits different on mine, I found there was a 6mm difference in diameter of the big pipe from the (2.5L) airbox to the sound generator elbow, so all I did was to carefully cut off the last 7mm or so of the old rubber elbow (where the Jub. clip sits), and use it as a spacer to give the correct diameter for a snug fit into the new, larger diameter elbow, (where the two big Jubilee clips go, side by side). I hope that's clear. Also, you need two of the smaller jubilee clips, not just one. (It didn't feel right just push-fitting the small diameter pipe into the sound generator, but did have it like that for a couple of days OK). Like others, I opted to take out the big bit of foam on the bulkhead end -JEEZ! Comments about fuel consumption are correct! :evil: -at least for the first few weeks! The sound is very addictive, but good that it's quiet, unless your playing.

Sorry, forgot to say, all parts total cost £119.00 from Cooper BMW, -not too bad.
When I bought my 2.5 the owner had fitted one... Wow fantastic, can't imagine it without one
