sound generator

Hello guys just done the sound generator mod this afternoon, question is how far does the pipe go back in is it up to the what seems like a sleeve or does it push past this, i am referrring to the pipe that goes into the bulkhead through what is in effect a large rubber washer type affair. Thanks in advance Steve

Hi Steve. Should push in go up to the sleeve to be a snug fit/perpendicular.

EDIT: Pic below. Into the bulkhead up to the larger collar.

No worries Steve. It's a great easy mod and gives even more of a smile when your foot is down

It's standard on the 3.0 and a retro fit job on 2.5 & 2.2
All the parts from sopers come to about £99.
it's on my list for next year.

inkey,

short of cash at the moment,if you look in buy/sell section, have to sell some stuff first :)

have you got a photo of this installed on the car?

Feel your pain Navid. Hope you manage to shift those parts too; am sure you will.
Best reference, write up and photos for this mod can be found here on this thread from sk93...http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=15035
It's a little tricky to see it in situ but you should get a good idea on how it all works.

Should be on page 4 with links to them (about half way down I think).
Edit: Page 4

I did this mod, but I can only hear the sound difference at somewhere over 3,000 rpm. So, it's good, but I expected more sound. Maybe I missed something?

Have you removed any of the insulating foam from inside the tube? Go on, do it, the sound is

I'm down to around 1/3 of the original foam and the sound is pretty good - no difference when cruising or on light throttle openings, but the full works when you use a bit more loud pedal. I'd still like to take things further though (damn You Tube and V8 videos ) so the next stage is something like a Gruppe M style air intake... - it's all about the sound for me. I've contacted these guys via Facebook to ask about the most suitable version for an E85 with the M54 engine, I'll post up any response I get.

Get a better exhaust then others can hear the awesome straight 6 too!
