sound generator

now that i have one im wondering .. the sound generator is the induction air being sucked in - yes ? so why isnt there a loss of power as the air is invited into the bulkhead instead of it all going into the manifold ?
 
It isn't the intake air. There's a diaphragm inside that the intake air vibrates, causing the air inside the pipe to the cabin to take on the same acoustic properties.
 
As above, the inlet manifold is airtight & you’re just hearing the sound waves from it piped into the cabin.

Or get a dlv backbox for your 3 litre - and take one or both foams out! :thumbsup:

Luckily a previous owner of my car had a cat-back custom exhaust built - it sounds much better for it! :D

don't want to attract attention.
can do that without making even more noise :wink:

I was surprised to find bmw had removed the trumpety device from the 3.0 e89, this suits its refined stature imho :)
