Just wondering if anyone has tried disconnecting the sound generator from the cabin and removing the hose completely so the sound is generated in the engine bay? Any potential issues?
Cheers
Oh my god- don't even think about doing that! It will cause insurmountable problems, potential disaster and you will just end up regretting satisfying your curiosity!
Believe me! I tried it and so glad I managed to avert disastrous consequences!
Hi, I did this to my si & just capped off the inlet manifold end with a plastic cap I found to stop it getting grubby-not strictly necessary as it won't cause an air leak anyhow
I preferred the quieter noise the engine made naturally.

I thought maybe you'd still hear it but would be more external than, I find it slightly unpleasant, way to shrill for my ears. I'll try it, hopefully disaster won't befall me.
