Sound generator mod

Having read a comment on a current thread mentioning a sound generator mod I searched and found the 'how to' engine thread. Can't wait until tomorrow - going to follow Bing's excellent picture guide and try removing the bulkhead foam first - see what it sound like :driving:

My method was simple....

1. Pull out both bits of foam....
2. Drive very slowly to slip road.....
3. Boot it up slip road (to 70)....
4. Grin like a loon....

This. :driving: :happyclap: :gfight:

So I couldn't wait until tomorrow and had a go this evening.
Removed the hose from the bulkhead and guess what - the previous owner had beaten me to it, no foam. Obviously I needed to try the other end and having removed the jubilee clip and pulled the pipe off I found the long foam bung. Had to remove the lot. After much effort managed to replace the bulkhead end (the other end with the clip was easier) then off for, dare I say, a hoon :driving:
Windows down and on my favourite stretch of straight road in second gear at 3,000 rpm I planted my right foot - ear splitting roar followed, at 6,000 rpm loaded 3rd and pushed hard - sweet mother of god, the howl of the straight six was sublime

Surely not!!! That's all I needed to do to achieve the sound. Would've saved me an awful lot of stress and funds :(

i tried this & thought it was great for about half hour, then it got on my nerves and i removed the trumpet completely and capped off the acoustic generator thingy, i find it better on long journeys without it bellowing at me whenever i accellerate.
each to their own.
