Sound gen mod

Not sure how they would ever find out - or why they would look. Doesn't affect performance at all, and easy enough to put back in if you ever needed any warranty work doing anyway.

Mmmm that's what I thought, although have to get it out first, train station car park probably not the best place to try and do it lol

The bulkhead end takes about 30 seconds - you could almost get it done at the traffic lights of a large junction

How important is it for the grommet to be seated perfectly? Am thinking about water ingress?

Should click back in properly real easily with some wiggling, though it never feels totally firm to me. Not sure water ingress will be a problem - I cannot recall my engine bay ever being really wet back there, and it gets damned hot under the hood. The most important reason for it being seated correctly is to make sure ALL the noise get to the cabin

Let me know your thoughts as I am half tempted to do it myself.

i think mine has been done by a previous owner.... i wasnt sure until some one else was in the car and they said it was much louder than theirs

i quite like it but there is a certain throttle position in all gears that i dont like whit it removed. the resonance is really bad and not pleasant. it would be interesting to see how 1/2 or 1/4 of the foam in there changes the sound..

I did a lot of playing about with mine, removing one, then the other, then both, then (when my ears had stopped bleeding) back to both but with one modified. Must be getting old because I thought I had modified just the bulkhead foam by cutting it down, however whilst looking for something else the other day I found all the bulkhead foam and about a third of the engine side foam in a drawer. And it's perfect

Definitely more of a roar above 3000rpm but not hooligan loud, thats with the bulkhead foam completely removed. Will leave it like that for now i think, but real simple mod to do
