Sound deadening

So I am thinking of doing some sound deadening to quiet the road noise of the z4. It seems like several people have done that, so any comments on it would be appreciated, but what I am curious about is I see a lot of things talking about doing it to the trunk lid. Can someone explain why to me? Seems like any noise going through the trunk lid would be escaping the car and not going to the cabin?

Write up on adding sound deadening to the doors is at https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53812

As far as the boot goes, there is more mileage to sound insulating the shelf behind the seats than the trunk lid - it's also worth removing the boot lining on either side and adding silent coat (or equivalent) over the inside of the rear wheel arches. Should say that it's only worth doing anything in the rear if you spend an appreciable amount of time driving with the roof up as it won't make one jot of difference when the roof is down
