sorry tyre size question

I can't see a problem with them fitting, but I'd personally stick to the manufacturer's recommended tyres for the car.

Plenty here...they have runflats too if you're on the devil's tyres

Hi All,

Bit confused on this. I have a 2006 2.0. Above people seem to be suggesting it needs:

Front - 225, 40, 18
Rear - 255, 35, 18

The sticker in the door has a scratch on it. I'm wondering what the R is on the last line? If it's 18 then it looks like I could go with 40 profile on the front and rear? Iam I right on that or way off?

At the minute it has 225, 40's all the way round from when I bought it.

W relates to the speed rating of the tyre.
Also the label on the door jamb relates to the tyre pressures for those particular sizes.

R just means its a radial tyre.

Sorry, what I meant was is it 18 under the scratch at the bottom? In which case on the rears I could have either 255 40 18 OR 255 35 18 ?

Just checked my label and to answer your question it's 17 under the scratch not 18.

Thanks for the replies.

So after much research I think I have replica MV2's fitted. They don't have the '13' stamp on the front and this also ties in to the fact that they are 225/40 18 all the way around.

Is there any real concerns about continuing with this set up? Not sure if I should be worried or not..?

its a non staggered setup.. but should be fine.

imo there isnt much noticeable difference between my rear 265/30/19 and my front 235/35/19

Ok thanks - But are there not other implications with running 225 width on the rear rather than the recommended 255? Issues with insurance should anything happen for example?

The easiest way to know is call your insurer as no doubt they will want notification.
Definitely get it in writing from them if they say it's fine then you'd be covered
