So today I removed all the side badges (sdrive 35is m) and the z4 from the back. Pretty pleased with it although some marks left in certain light at the right angle - might need to be professionally polished at some point to complete the job but I'm happy considering it's the first time I've done it. It definitely looks better to me debadged.

More controversially, I also added a black ///M badge to the back, with small ones ordered to go on the sides. I've also got black grills coming and have plans to make the wheels black (or possibly anthracite) and also the wing mirrors and side indicator repeater things, so an orange & black theme. However, I'm not loving the rear ///M badge just yet, it's had to sit higher than planned due to the curve of the boot and I may remove in a few weeks or reposition. I'll do the other easily reservable change next (the grills) so I can decide if I like it before getting wheels powder coated and other things painted.

I appreciate most think the existence of the badge on the back of my car is sacrilegious, but I would welcome any thoughts on the positioning.

Looking forward to suggestions to reposition it in the bin or on a real M car...

I'm sorry, but I'm in the reposition them in a bin or on a real M car camp.

The M department didn't have any input in to the design of the road going E89 as far as I'm aware, there's not even an M version.

People who are in to cars know it's an upbadge/fake, and people who aren't in to cars won't have a clue of the significance of the M badge so what's the point?

Looks better without any badges (Z4 badge etc).
 
First world problems with probably n opinions where n is a large positive integer !

Given that some MSport versions came with an M badge on the flanks it’s difficult to argue that an M badge there is ‘illegal’

However IMHO a M badge on the boot should only appear on a real M car.. :thumbsdown:

Others will disagree.. :tumbleweed:

I do agree on removing all that s drive rubbish on the sides :thumbsup:
 
I am easy on this one, it all personal choice and whatever makes the owner happy.

I think the black M badges may look good on the side in black but leave them off the rear :D
 
No objections to badges any where, on any car, as long as they look right. The badge on the boot does not look right though. IMHO.

Re the rear badge, irrespective of what it is or what it says the positioning doesn’t look quite right IMO. I actually think the black ones on the wings will look ok, especially if you get the indicators done black too. If you do go down the black/orange theme route, are you going to get the roof wrapped black too?

Papa Zee has put black grilles on his 35iS if you haven’t seen them already.
 
Will its your car and your choice. I de-badged my car (except for the Z4 on the boot) I always thought it looked like a marketing department afterthought exercise, but then again my car isn't a 35is (being top of the range I would of kept it as is, but its your car your choice and if you've got it flaunt it!). With regards to the boot badge, all the M cars have it on the right side and a lot lower, have a look at a M2. I know when I had the Jags it was fashionable to put R badges on, but personally I felt you would look a bit silly at the traffic lights sitting next to the real thing.
 
I would take it off, turn around 180 degrees and stick it on the front of the silver Ford :)
I would love to take the badges off the sides of the Z but as its technically not my car I'm not allowed. :(
 
Your choice of course but that M badge on the back is incorrect in all sorts of ways. Wrong side, wrong height, wrong colour.
I’m not a fan of black wheels either and think you’ll lose the specialness of the range topping model by adding black badges and wheels.

Of course it’s just an opinion, it’s your car.
 
I'm not a fan of modifying the look of a car, in particular a 35iS, debadging I'm ok with but this model has specific differences to the lower range cars that identify the difference, silver trim the the bottom grille, silver bumper grille, coded rear bumer with black splitter, silver wing mirrors unless its VO. That's just my opinion and its not my car so whatever makes you happy as its yours.

To me it looks cleaner without the badges. I was always too worried about the marks left behind, so will be interested to hear if you can get rid of those.
As for the rear badge, I don't think it matters what badge it is: you made the car look much cleaner by removing them all, then randomly stuck one back on. Could be any letter of the alphabet, still looks like clutter to me.

Black wheels? Could look ok, hard to visualise tbh. My issue is that they always make the tyres look grey unless you really keep on top of the cleaning. Have you considered anthracite or something similar?
 
I had the wheel colour thread and in the end stuck with OEM as that is what I normally do, not a fan of major changes. :D

For me black mens you will lose the definition of the wheel, as said above it if you have to change anthracite or gunmetal

Proud to drive a Z4 35 - no need or desire to unbadge or remove whippy (go for it stuuby fans lol).Everyone will now think its a 2.0 but you want them to think its a 35.........
 
Morning, tiglon. As well as adding a rear 'M' badge, have you painted your mirror backs? One of the distinguishing features of the 35iS is that they're usually usually silver, of course, and not body coloured.

And in the interior, doesn't yours have the 'M' steering wheel and kick plates, all badged?

The silver mirror shells were only for the lesser colours.
Those astute enough to choose VO were rewarded by having proper body-coloured mirrors. :poke: :D
