That offset shouldn't be a problem at all. Take a peek here and play with the tyre sizes etc : http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
I'll guess you've already got 255/35 on the rears. These can be transferred to the wider rim and I'm sure you'll have no issues whatsoever.
BTW I'm assuming your suspension is stock and not lowered?

Sorry should have said the car is on 18s at the moment and as it is a 2.0i sport it does have the m suspension which i believe is slightly lower than standard.

The offset and width is fine, may need to check the central bore, but it its off an e90 cab should be ok too.

With the polished lip prob not the best time of the year to put them on though (with salt and crap)

Seems to me if you went with a 35 profile the overall diameter would increase to 661 mm from 635 mm assuming the 18 inch also has 35 profile and 255 width.

Rim wise then a 9.5j rim is rated as okay for 245 as a minimum, 255 or 265 as ideal and max's out at 275 mm. Personally I'd be looking at 255 or 265 with 35 profile. On a 265/35 the overall diameter increases to 669 mm.I should still think with the modest offset you'll be okay but 255/35 should clinch it.

Be interesting to hear what others say/have experienced but I've just changed my wheels from 8.5J with 47 offset to 9J with 27 offset. Tyres are currently at 255/35 with no problems at all albeit the wheel does extend to the arch edge. For a week or two I also ran 255/40 and they too were not a problem. BTW my wheels were 18 inch.

Hope that helps in some small way.
