With the M in winter hybernation and the Golf the same, I was just wondering if it would be worth SORN-ing these cars. Is it an easy process or do you really have to go to post offices to hand in tax disks, go back again to get tax, buying 6 months at a time etc?

Pretty sure it can all be done either online or by phone.

i was wondering if it can be done on a monthly basis i.e. month on month off several times

Yes, those are the sort of things I was after. The 6 month rate is £45 a year more then the annual rate, so that wipes out a lot of potential savings as well.

If it was a case of Dec 1 - Sorn, March 1 - back on without issues, I would do it, but if it is a load of hassle each time and more expensive - not sure.

Mine's SORN'd as the tax ran out end of Oct, I will tax for either 6 or 12 months next year depending when I put it her back on the road and will send of for refund at some point next Autumn again depending if it's 6 or 12 months I bought.

No point buying 6 months if you intend on using for more than 6 months per year, and only send the disc of for refund at the end of the month, the post mark on the envelope is used as the date you sent it in so you should be able to post on the 30 or 31 of a month and not lose anything.
