Something different - a relaxed run in the sun

The sun was out again so we had to get out in the Zed. I didn't quite feel on top of my game (ever have a day when you don't gel with the Zed?) so I suggested we take a relaxed run and explore some of the many back roads and lanes around us. Gentle pottering about and some lovely quiet spots. Another facet of Zed ownership and 30 mpg.

Wheels looking good on your Zed mr wilks.

Looks like a similar quiet run out. A bit of elevation brings brilliant views - nice one

Looks like you both had a nice run out and am quite envious. Unfortunately SWMBO had other plans for me and my time today, so enough said :x

Looking good Paul, are you planning another group outing before the weather turns? If so I wouldn't mind tagging along again. I still have the zed although from complete lack of use it has rewarded me with an ABS and TDC warning light? I'm hoping its just a sensor?

Nice pics btw..

Hi John002, thought you were selling? So have you still got the black coupe?

Often out at weekends and sometimes mid week. Get out with Chezsherman and or Cherrym (see posts - there have been a few brilliant runs) - if we're out I'll post it on the forum and you can come along if you're free.

You might want to contact Swiftly re your warning lights - he's just had a similar issue (costly  ) I think - he may be able to give you a heads up.

The reservoirs at Whittle Dene unless I'm mistaken but not sure about the church?
Did most of your "Northumberland Coast and Castles" run yesterday which was great but on the Honda this time!
Something needs to be done about farmers leaving cr@p all over the roads.

Your absolutely right about the roads - I made just the same comment to Steph when we were out - seems the roads have been filthy all year :o

Steph's just told me the church is at Ryal. Hope you had a good ride out.

Yes I still have the coupe Paul, I couldn't bring myself to sell it. I took it for a spin last weekend and the dash lit up like a Xmas tree, stayed that way for a while then returned to normal? By the time I got home they'd come back on? Mystery? The car has been utterly reliable bar the springs up to this point. The lack of use has done it no favours.

I found driving without the traction control added a little excitement to the journey but as you say the thought of a costly bill to be a little frightening. Thanks for the info I shall look into it.

I'll keep an eye out for future runs too:) It still runs

You had a better day than me. Clearing out cupboards and doing DIY :headbang:

You may be lucky - it might be because it's stood? Sounds fun with the stability off - Hope it sorts itself out - will send you a pm if out for a run.

Ha, I have days like that too but try to save them for a rainy day (that's early retirement for you :poke: :D )

Very nice car n pics. 30mpg! Speechless...

That's why I mentioned it  doesn't happen often!

:driving:

Well with 30mpg I guess the front of your zed Paul didn't suffer from much fly splatter :P

It was a very different run out - like I said, for once, I didn't feel in tune with the Zed and wasn't in the mood for our usual 'hooning' so decided I would chill out, sit back, put it in 3rd and 4th and just potter about exploring a few lanes we'd never been down - and we came across some beautifully peaceful places. :)

Not much fly splatter but being out so often its got quite a bit of gravel rash - shows up as flecks of undercoat on the stratus grey so no hiding it. :(

Nevermind I'm proud it gets used so much and eventually it will give me a good reason to get the front end re-sprayed to pristine condition - but don't know when - we're always out in it! :D

:driving:

If it is any comfort Paul, my front bumper is also covered in stone chips, but the zed is over 2 years old with 46K on the clock so is to be expected with the zed being so low to the ground. With my zed being white does help, but it still irretates me everytime I clean the car. My last zed which was an M coupe and had the bumper resrayed twice due to stone chips, it didn't help being Interlagos  Unfortunately the stone chips soon reappear no matter how carefully you drive!
