You might want to check (casually) your insurers T&C's on vandalism damage, it might not be treated as a fault claim.

woke up this morning and some one has sliced the hood with a knife :evil: :thumbsdown:

It hasnt gone through the inner skin, just the outer. It is a long slit rather than a hole cut into it

Shall I get the needle and thread out ? any other soloutions?

Ive been quoted a 6 week wait and £1000 for a new hood. I do not want to go through insurance as do not want to loose my 3 years no claims bonus..

Can this be repaired?

was it on a driveway? if so, what i done is install a infared camera facing the z, at night it glows with red led's and i think its a great deterrent because once they know they being recorded they are much less likely to try any dodgy business, only £350 and you can set your loop times 24hrs 48hrs etc.

R3AP4r i may take you up on your offer.. as getting a rood cheap i sone thing, but getting one fitted cheaply is another..

I could take it on as factory a maintenence engineer but doubt I have the tools required

has anyone got a method/how to guide plus a list of tools required?

ps. my insurance is with one call- not vandalism clause

I will purchase it , aslong as I can find someone who will fit it and knows if the electrics can be swapped over without destroying the roof/ buying new bits and peices

How is Lutterworth for you? Auto Technik done my roof motor swop over for about £250. When I was there they had four others booked in that week, so know what they're doing with these.

You need to take steps to deter it from happening again though, or some little tw*t will no doubt think it funny to repeat the process. Difficult to suggest what though, years ago in a bad neighbourhood, I installed cameras on my house, only to find them used for target practice! Maybe just a 1000W PIR floodlight with a grille might be better and cheaper?
