woke up this morning and some one has sliced the hood with a knife :headbang: :fuelfire:  :(

It hasnt gone through the inner skin, just the outer. It is a long slit rather than a hole cut into it

Shall I get the needle and thread out ? any other soloutions?

Ive been quoted a 6 week wait and £1000 for a new hood. I do not want to go through insurance as do not want to loose my 3 years no claims bonus..

Can this be repaired?

thankyou in advance :(

Not good :o

I've seen complete used hoods with frames on ebay for £250-500 or something like this is worth a look although fitting will add afair bit unless you are handy,

Avoid repro hoods though I've had them on other cars and they are never the same.

Bastards....... I hate random vandalism. At least if someone steals something you can see there is some kind of gain in it, but just stupidly reckon things really boils my blood.

I'd post up a wanted thread on here, I managed to miss out on a roof and motor last year for £100 because I couldn't get there.

Someone's got to have one lying around.

Call quarry motors they always have lots of stuff. I had a look for something else early they have a few zeds in.

Sorry to hear this complete bum holes the people that do this!!!

Sorry to hear your news pal. I hate thieves and vandals are worse! Have you done a police report just in case you have to do insurance?

Bastards.

Someone on here had theirs repaired when someone did something similar, not 100% bit can only tell if you know where to look... And its £50 vs £1k.

How old are you? As £1k of a insurance bump over the years would be pretty steep... May work out cheaper to claim on the insurance then pay for it.

You might want to check (casually) your insurers T&C's on vandalism damage, it might not be treated as a fault claim.

When you come to sell it will also put buyers off and may cost you then. As above worth talking to you insurance company or buying a secondhand roof.

I've just bought a boot from this guy, might be worth contacting him to see if he had the actual roof. I paid a lot lees than he had it up for as well

I disagree and i speak from someone who knows, my roof is lovely and looks exactly the same as a oem apart from there is not black rubber seal goin round the rear window, mines all material which i prefer.
Cost was £1100 but thats due to it being red, black are £950 i think

I've been running rag tops for over 30 years and have had several disappointments with after-market tops that end up permanently blighting your pride and joy so tend to avoid them if possible. I'm glad yours worked out for you Jonny but at £1100 couldn't you have got a genuine one? or maybe I'm out of touch with prices :?

Either way a good used one looks like an economical option.

I have a spare roof, taken from a 2003 e85. Been in my garage a couple of years, just in case! It seems to be in good nick, with no tears, rips, holes, etc. Only thing is I believe the electrics may be faulty, but you could just swap this with your existing. £100 if you want it. :D

This offer needs snapping up tbh ^^

Yep.

Like now.

If you were closer I'd offer to fit it for another couple of hundred. Maybe another local member with some skills will do the same?

I was in a breakers in Blackburn for a few parts the other day and they are breaking a Z4, think it is 2004 model. The roof on it looks ok, could just do with a clean. I have always found them really reasonable and just off the M65. If its any help give them a phone 01254 230033

Sorry to hear that, my driveway opens onto a main footpath and I have constant fears of this (currently shopping for a good set of gates!).

FYI - im with direct line and vandalism cover is included on my policy (I believe its on all DL policies purchased online). As said by others above, may be worth checking your policy first. good luck
