Someone's rear ended my wife!

The car may well be fine, hope so.

JOKING!!!!

as others have said - hope it gets sorted without hassle

Gutted mate... as everone said get it checked over, not just bodywork though. Make sure you get the full length of zorst pipe checked too. Never know if it is buckled somewhere along its length. Happened to a mates TT, got rear ended, didn't look too bad but got checked out and zorst was bucked near cat.

Glad that no one was hurt. I think the most annoying thing about such accidents is that you could still loose your no claims bonus :(

Her insurance (direct line) have already contacted me and accepted full responsibility, the car is going into Sytners b'ham for repair as I requested and I've got a BMW Merc or Jag hire car for as long as it takes.
I tried the roof and looked underneath the car as much as possible and all seems ok.
Could have been worse - could have been a child that ran in front of the woman, or worse still at cat!!! :D

I joked too soon....wife rang me earlier to say some van had reversed into the front of her 1'er whilst she was parked at a petrol station!

Its either bad karma for my ealier joke, or for the grouse I run over the other night in her car......

Sounds like good quick service!

Sorry to read about this... only been hit at lights once, in my previous car 6 days after I bought it - fortunately slow enough to just bounce off the bumper - but having owned it for less than a week it goes without saying when we pulled over to check for any damage I was ready to hit the bloke. I'd seen he wasn't looking in my rvm as he approached - he was playing in the glove box and I knew he was going to hit.

On the plus side for you... party responsible is covering costs, dealer fixing it, and a nice courtesy car in the mean time - could be worse... friend of mine was hit by an uninsured driver last year :headbang:

I did think otherwise, but noticed it wasn't posted in the lounge. Right I'm off to say a dozen Hail Marys or something (no religious offence intended)

Again really sorry to read about the bump and glad your wife's ok. I was going to say that as its non fault ie your insuarnce wont end up with the bill, you'll be under no pressure to use an approved garage and that most of the big insurers have BMW body shops on there approved list anyway.

With the above in mind, ask the body shop if they plan to repair or replace parts. Although I'm not an engineer, I work in motor claims and see images frequently. Judging by your's, i'd suggest the structure of the car is undamaged as you can see that the the re inforcer behind the bumper appears not to have deformed. The general rule of thumb is its better to repair minor damage to panels rather than replace as original factory welds/fit is always better and place parts such as bumpers etc rather than repair.

The crucial point is that its going to BMW as the increasing use of light weight high strength steals requires specialist welding and sometimes bonding. Hopefully this wont be necessary

Hope it goes well.

Just go over it with a fine tooth comb when it's complete, a similar thing happened to my mrs in the 330d & we just needed a rear bumper & paint & I had to reject it at first as the finish was poor & little effort had been made but they took it back & did it again & that was with sytners Nottingham.

Hopefully they will know what they are doing at the Birmingham branch.

Bummer. But as said, insurance is sorted, and the main thing is your wife is fine

Glad it was the car that got rear-ended and not your wife personally :P
