I'd of thrown her stuff on the floor and stamped on it, them push a trolley in to her car. Meanwhile I'd be shouting in her face extremely aggressively.

What is wrong with people. You just don't touch what isn't yours. End of.

My blood is boiling reading some of these posts.

I would go with some idiot has placed something on the roof whilst faffing with their car, probably a box or something with grit on the bottom. Doesn't look like vandalism.

Regarding a smart repair, I know some won't do an isolated repair to the bonnet or roof as there is no guarantee of a colour match. Although more expensive I would get BMW to respray the panel and get it done properly :)

This one is too deep to polish out. Even sanding won't do it. The scratch goes all the way through the clear and base coats.

A top notch shop can fix this as a spot repair. They sand down the area around the scratch and feather the edges. Then they build it back up with primer/surfacer, base and clear so that the repair is level and impossible to notice.

Many shops will prefer to paint the entire panel instead.
 
Know how your feeling, mine was parked and got keyed down the front and had to get that resprayed and now the boot has been keyed right across and I have a not too bad scratch all the way down one side but black polish has made it less noticeable.

To be honest in this day and age nobody respects anything or anyone, they just see a nice car cleaned and polished and decide to scratch it, I am fairly sure it will be idiot kids but I really do think its a losing battle trying to stop this from happening. Society has produced these people and by having a nice car it just makes you a target :(

I remember seeing a Dodge Viper in a car park once with a mcdonalds thrown all over it with sea gulls sitting on it, really makes you realise what you are up against... :headbang:

I would be interested to see the results of a spot repair, it might work on DSB being a darker colour but would hold reservation being metallic once the sun shines on it and under street lights (sodium lighting) would stand out like a sore thumb. I doub't it would work on Titanium Silver hence I would always go for a full panel respray.

Sorry to hear Andrew - there's nothing more annoying then unexplained damage :thumbsdown:

FWIW I agree with the others that it's not obviously malicious damage. I also think a detailer will get a good amount of that damage out for you without any paintwork needed - I've got similar damage back to almost invisible myself and I'm no expert!

if she had done that to my car, i would of nutted her and then dumped the box on top of her before reversing my car over her :driving:
 
Mines been done over 3 panels. Across the giant bonnet, continuing accross the passenger door, along to the rear next to the tail lights... :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
(£825 quoted repair job from chipaway - or 350 excess insurance)

I paid £15 for alpine white paint from halfords and 30 mins of art. Can hardly see it now.

Thing is, I've had it barely a month and this happens .. so I dont want to claim on insurance as no doubt I'll be back again in a few month

I'm going to say that really looks like a box has been put on the roof then dragged off.

I have seen this happen many times.

As for the smart repair. If it involves paint just get the entire panel done.

For all the size of the panel and the fact there is no sides to blow into.

I say this because smart paint repairs do not last and very often you can see the scratch in the sunlight.

OK if you are sprucing a car up for a sale or something but for long term get it painted and baked properly.

Sorry to hear that. I think I would have a good detailer have a look at it, if that wouldn't help you can always have the panel repainted :)

As I said before, I would just get it resprayed at a BMW approved body shop, that way you will ensure the anti-corrosion warranty etc is maintained. Going to a detailer, whilst probably giving a good result, probably won't make it disappear if it has gone through the paint, and could even be more expensive.
 
Really sorry to see this :( Some people have 0 respect for other peoples things. I'd go nuclear if I caught someone fudging with my car. I do believe in an eye for an eye I'm afraid :evil:

I think Halliwell Jones in Warrnington and Williams Liverpool are the closest. BlueBell have a body shop not to far from Manchester Airport.

Still looking for other recommended body shops.

Andrew*Debbie I know an excellent bodyshop I used for my E92 when I reversed into a skip (long story) but unfortunately it's not that close to you :(
