Someone keyed our car today Update: Now with Photos

It could be a bag, but then why would anyone else have the need to put a bag on his roof?

Hospital? Bag with feet dragged off the roof whilst getting ready to put it on the back seat of the car next to you?

I had someone put a crate of beer on my bonnet of my 7 series a few years back whilst loading their car. You would not believe what people do!

The scratches start near the center of the roof. Seems unlikely someone would put a bag that far over.

Then again, I do work at a uni. and it is exam time.

Bizarre thing is why on earth would you go to the trouble and leaning over the car to key the roof rather than just walking down the side of the car?? This really is a strange one and I feel your pain!

If it's any consolation,i really don't think this is malicious vandalism.Have to agree with previous posts and say that someone has thoughtlessly placed something on your roof and dragged it across.Wish you a speedy and happy conclusion.

Very sad to hear! Some people are just a waste of space on this earth. Why can't they let other people live their lives stress free.

Did wonder about a cat on your roof as they can scratch dark paintwork very easily but looking at your pics it definitely isn't that. As Mic said, doubt if it was malicious, more like thoughtless.

Could a tree branch or something have caused this? If it was malicious they did a pretty crap job of keying it tbh.

Hope you get it sorted as quickly, painlessly and cheaply as possible Andrew!

I have to say that does look a bit strange, however regardless of whether it was intentional or not the end result is still the same, and there is no way whoever did it would not have realised. If it was an accident any decent person would have left a note.

Sorry to hijack slightly but this thread made me dig out my offending pic.

And there was a matching one along the front quarter + passenger door.

I hope you get it sorted cost effectively and try not to let it wind you up too much, although that’s easier said than done.

grrr... seeing it makes it look even worse.

But i would say a smart repair could make that totally un-noticable.

Looks like someone has dragged a stone/rock over the roof... Would explain the double marks. As said though, should be fixable

Have you tried a deep polish?, get back to halliwell jones and have a chat with your salesman, he should be able to arrange their body man to give it a looking at with the polisher. Happened to us with a 3series a few years ago and nick (our sales chap) got it polished out for us at no charge.

If not and you want a recommendation I do know a first class body shop in saltney. He rarely does run of the mill stuff, usually e-type jags, ferraris, lambos and astons. Took my wife's 1 series to him after a slight bump and said he'd do it but couldn't get close to BMWs poor standards! He is good! (the etype job was £40000 just for the body and paint work)

Could it be someone putting a bag on the car?

My husband came back to his car on a supermarket car park and a woman had stood a cardboard box full of shopping on his boot while she was messing about!
You can imagine he politely asked her to remove it  and she had a proper go at him, dragged the box off his car which had staples in the bottom which scratched the paint. I actually thought he was going to kill her.

Some people are just :headbang: :headbang:
