Someone borrowed my car ...

Also enjoying your stelvio video, I drove it (albeit in the dry and brilliant sunshine) in my last car :)

Will have to work out how to upload videos!

Loved the Stelvio and 'Ring shots etc. I'm taking my car to Monte Carlo for the GP in May and coming back via the 'Ring. Took the last car (993 turbo) to the Stelvio and Sn Bernadino Passes etc on a trip to Monza via St Moritz.

Interested to see that you both Sport Cup and Vredstein tyres on CSLs. I have a CSLs as well but chose Continentals as they have a cute little rim protector. Shame they don't have any grip. Do you rate the Vredsteins as I think I might change before the trip? Also have you tried Toyo Proxos? So well priced and my friend with an Exige swears by them.

Interested in your opinion,

Cheers

Thanks guys.

I wish I had put more effort into filming Stelvio - I think I could of made something much better with better footage. I will try again at some point this year.

Monte Carlo will be fun outrun - enjoy! The Ultrac Sessanta tyres are brilliant. My only criticism would be that I find the dry braking distance a little stretched out. Other than that all good, in order;

1. Great communication - as you can see!
2. Generous tread depth - fronts have lasted 12,000 miles (5mm remaining) but I am on my 3rd rear set in the same time frame!
3. Fair price.
4. Good grip.
5. Predictable.
6. Funky tread pattern!

The Cup tyres are terrible on the road and to be honest I have hardly used them. The plan ws to keep them for track days but despite their much higher performance I prefer the Vredesteins and will probably put those on the spare set of CSL wheels.

Toyo tyres are great. I used to run R888's on my VX220. Not fitted and Proxies myself though.

Cheers Blacklines. Think I'll go down the new tyre route in May prior to Monte Carlo. I don't want to go to all these great roads and the 'Ring with the worst tyres possible spoiling everything !

What sizes did you opt for? There's a lot of debate over what fits best.

I did a lot of research in to tyres. I am a spotter. On 19 inch wheels I fitted:

245/35/19 (2.3 bar)
255/35/19 (2.6 bar)

which is the connoisseurs choice!

More front end grip. Less rear grip. Rolling radius almost identical to Z4M OE. No steering lock issues.

LOL, I replied to this thread on Pistonheads -- didn't realize it was you
