As per the title really... some days I just can't deal with the regular s**t that seems to affect me and my car
I manage to finally sort out my laptop with BMW tools so I can code my facelift rear lights to work properly and not throw a bulb out error.
It's taken ages, as two other people tried, and for whatever reason, couldn't get the changes to stick.
Then, as all seems well, my coolant light comes on again (after "fixing" it prior with replacing: lower rad pipe, upper rad pipe, expansion tank and coolant cap).
Bit of investigation and the thermostat is leaking.. great. Get replacement, fit replacement, job done.
Next I find my drivers window is going down sometimes when I press the up button. no idea why.
tried resetting the system a few times, nothing.
check the system for errors, and nothing.
take door off, check all cables, all fine. check switch gear, all fine.. no idea
leave that for now.
Then go to replace front sidelight bulb as it's blown.. easy peasy.
next morning -> misting.
fantastic.
dry lamps, check seals, seem ok, clean and lubricate, then replace.
next morning -> misting.
did I REALLY expect anything else?
had an airbag light on in the car for a few months.
change seatbelt tensioner and clear errors.. light still on.
change command module under the seat and clear errors... light still on.
take door card off, pull connector from airbag, read errors - different error.
replace cable, clear errors... no light. great!
replace door card, recheck errors... first error back again.
adjust drivers side door window angle to alleviate wind noise.. window drops of hanger and falls into door.. doesn't break, but is an ARSE to get back up and fitted.
Then.. just to top off what has, so far, been a FANTASTIC week... turn on car and hear crackling noise from stereo (even when turned off).
turn on stereo, no noise from any speakers, apart from the subs.
open boot, lift cover, notice battery well about 2 inches deep in water. fucking GREAT.
take out battery, take out amp, dry well completely.
dry battery, drain and airdry amp.
reconnect all and no change.
suspect blown DSP amp.
Give BMW a ring - £950 plus vat IF it can still be ordered (wont know till tuesday),
so yeah... seriously considering giving up cars and getting a mountain bike
