Somedays, I just feel like selling and getting a push bike..

As per the title really... some days I just can't deal with the regular s**t that seems to affect me and my car

I manage to finally sort out my laptop with BMW tools so I can code my facelift rear lights to work properly and not throw a bulb out error.
It's taken ages, as two other people tried, and for whatever reason, couldn't get the changes to stick.

Then, as all seems well, my coolant light comes on again (after "fixing" it prior with replacing: lower rad pipe, upper rad pipe, expansion tank and coolant cap).
Bit of investigation and the thermostat is leaking.. great. Get replacement, fit replacement, job done.

Next I find my drivers window is going down sometimes when I press the up button. no idea why.
tried resetting the system a few times, nothing.
check the system for errors, and nothing.
take door off, check all cables, all fine. check switch gear, all fine.. no idea :headbang:
leave that for now.

Then go to replace front sidelight bulb as it's blown.. easy peasy.
next morning -> misting.
fantastic.
dry lamps, check seals, seem ok, clean and lubricate, then replace.
next morning -> misting.
did I REALLY expect anything else? :headbang:

had an airbag light on in the car for a few months.
change seatbelt tensioner and clear errors.. light still on.
change command module under the seat and clear errors... light still on.
take door card off, pull connector from airbag, read errors - different error.
replace cable, clear errors... no light. great!
replace door card, recheck errors... first error back again. :headbang:

adjust drivers side door window angle to alleviate wind noise.. window drops of hanger and falls into door.. doesn't break, but is an ARSE to get back up and fitted. :headbang:

Then.. just to top off what has, so far, been a FANTASTIC week... turn on car and hear crackling noise from stereo (even when turned off).
turn on stereo, no noise from any speakers, apart from the subs.
open boot, lift cover, notice battery well about 2 inches deep in water. fucking GREAT.

take out battery, take out amp, dry well completely.
dry battery, drain and airdry amp.
reconnect all and no change.
suspect blown DSP amp.

Give BMW a ring - £950 plus vat IF it can still be ordered (wont know till tuesday),

so yeah... seriously considering giving up cars and getting a mountain bike

Do your windows have the anti-trap feature or someway of detecting when something is in the way?

Could this be activating by mistake, making your driver window think somethings blocking it, and retracting as a safety feature?

However, looking at your other issues, I suspect the window is the least of your problems!

Sorry to hear about all the grief with the car, surely the amp can be sourced through ebay / salvage ? If you can upload a pic/ part no I can have a search for you matey ? BMW prices are ridiculous.

the amp part number is: 65126936087

only available on 2.5i and 3.0i model roadsters, which means it's gonna be quite hard to find I think

pics and info on the amp are here:

Give this bloke a try, he is in Blackburn, but sure he would post it for you, if not, if he has one I will collect it and post it to you. He is on 01254 230033. He has a breakers yard, but only breaks BMWs, I know he has just broken a 2.5

Good Luck

These guys have a few breakers in at the moment 2.5 & 3.0 definitely worth a call. If you do have success I can collect from them and bring it down to you no probs.

Mine feels the same re emission light, that's why I am looking at the 1 series-I love my zed sooo much but as I have recently said it has ruined soo many hoons, even when I go for a drive and it does not come on I am expecting it to :headbang:

anyone know of a way to get sound WITHOUT the amp?
I don't care if I have to go without amplified sound for a little bit, but having ZERO sound is gonna REALLY suck :x

ok.. just redid everything for the airbag light.

seat out, door card off, carpet up,
switched out the airbag with a spare one, the control module (mac lent me one of his spares, which I tried first, but also found one in the garage I had acquired a while back) and the seatbelt tensioner with my original one again.

checked all connectors are in and secure (they are), ensured the airbag control module was correctly coded for my VIN number, cleared all the error codes, reset the car (ignition off, wait 10, ignition on) and the light is STILL on.

the error message I'm getting in INPA is as follows:
Code:
986A Resistor detonation pill detonation circuit4 (E85: side airbag left/E60,E61: Thorax airbag rear left/E63,E64: knee airbag front left) to small
Error counter: 1

Systemzeit end error 4153.19 hours

Error present now and already stored
Error would not cause a warning lamp to light up

Error code: 98 6A 60 00 01 00 00 00 0D EC B7 00 0D EC B7

I know it says it would not cause a warning lamp to light up, but this is the ONLY fault on the airbag system.
If I clear the instrument cluster without clearing this, the light remains.
If I clear this, then the cluster, the light goes out until I either start the car, or turn the ignition off and on again, at which point this error and the accompanying one on the cluster re-appear
(cluster error is simply that the Airbag ECU has requested the LED to be illuminated)

Any ideas, as this, with other things, is really starting to piss me off.

No problem just want to help. I really do think it might be worth taking the car to a reputable Indy local to you, I have found mine invaluable and the software they have might just sort your issues and avoid the frustration. Just a suggestion. Good luck with it all

Have you any realtime data to show what the actual resistance is in that circuit ?

I would be looking at poor connections within the male/female pins on airbag connection or door multiplug.
