Noticed today that my 'unstealable' lockable dust caps have gone off the car! It's been in the garage since Sunday when i took it for a drive to the Yorkshire dales. The robbery must have been in Settle I think as that's the only place we stopped for any time.

Did the thieves have the special device for taking the caps off??

Is there a national shortage of dust caps and what does little Johnnie and his mates do with them?

Weigh them in for scrap?

Sell them in the Woolpack???

Glad to get back to good old honest Liverpool :)

Black plastic ones for me from now on! :D

They use them on there bikes. I have had a good number stolen so now i just stick to the chrome ones. They don't seem to like them.

I found that the metal ones from BMW were actually cheaper than the black plastic caps from Halfords..!!

I had an issue with them being pinched off my MINI Cooper S, so left a little bag out with a load of them in. Problem solved overnight.

I'm guessing it's something to do with Emmerdale or whatever it is, but I don't watch any soaps, so I won't get it. I'd rather take a cheese grater to my balls than watch soaps or reality TV, I'm afraid!

Dustcaps are always going missing, but i always wonder why the theives get off on doing this and what they do with them :?

as denzo said they tend to use them on their bikes and/or just do it to p1ss uss off!

i had them stolen off my other car but i have the ''anti-theft'' ones and they have stayed on the z.

one night just attach the car battery to the metal dustcaps and watch the silly little chavs jump!

I have a serial dustcap thief, steals my front passenger side one on a regular basis, only on the work a hack though Z4 is locked away

Here's a nerdy anoraky thought to counter all the wife swapping/thong wearing stuff that's around :)

Is it true that the only part on a car that is the same on every vehicle made from Vauxhall to Veyron is the valve in the tyre??? :?

No.

Some wheels (i.e. Alpinas) have a different valve and you have to use an adapter to use a normal air hose. Same goes for specialty vehicles like the original Hummer which had self-inflating tyres.

Also, when you get a tyre fitted, it is normal for the tyre fitter to remove the old valve and fit an new one, thus there'll be a few different suppliers of valves. Which means different manufacturers could fit slightly different valves anyway.
